Most posh stay of 4 city tour-
200 years old on outside and so new and clean on inside.
Nicola was amazing! walked us to our first dinner at 11pm! and he was off from his shift-
breakfast awesome- fresh and so many choices. Free wifi and cappacinos- just great!
The staff is amazing, location perfect. Gondolas out the front door, train station across the water, bus station nearby. Took water ferry conveniently nearby. The hotel is one you want to come back to, they are so friendly and willing to help with anything. Rooms were really comfortable.
Needs a renovation but still charming, comfortable and well located across the Grand Canal from the RR station. Helpful staff. Buffet Breakfast includes bacon and eggs, deli meats, tamatoes and cucumbers, breads, cereal and fruits. Close to Conad supermarket.
This is an excellent hotel with courteous and helpful staff and very comfortable rooms. Its proximity to the train/bus station make it easy to reach and it's only 35 mins from the airport both on the bus and Alilaguna. It's location makes it easy to travel down the Grand Canal on the first day and enjoy all the views before embarking on the sightseeing on foot.
We booked the cheapest room and although disappointingly it did not have the canal view, it was also very comfortable and quiet, ensuring a very good uninterrupted sleep. If you wish to a have the view, then probably you will need to book one of the superior rooms.
The area is not as glorious as further down the canal, so perhaps this is the only criticism (and not something the hotel can help obviously!) - in particular if you can find a similarly priced room closer to San Marco which is a nicer area (we couldn't find anything similarly priced at the time of booking).
If you wish to have a canal-view candlelit dining experience within meters of the hotel, then we would highly recommend the restaurant opposite on the canal at the Hotel Principe. The meal was utterly superb (but - as usual in Venice - not particularly cheap).
This was our 4th consecutive stay at this hotel in Venice - and our 5th visit to Venice - need we say more? We come every two years for the Biennale and this hotel is in a great location for this. We always have a very nice room and great service - good base to explore this beautiful city. The wifi is a little temperamental and the buffet breakfasts could offer a little more variety (particularly for those who don't eat bread or pastries) - otherwise this is a great find in a pretty part of the city near some excellent restaurants. We will likely be back in 2017.
The Capri is a small hotel within 5 minutes walk of the railway station. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful - most speak good English. The rooms are of a good size with a safe (free) and minibar (not free!) & kept scrupiously clean. Breakfast is buffet style served opposite reception. It includes cereals, juices, cooked meat & cheese, croissants, yoghurts etc. It also includes hot bacon & scrambled egg. The sister hotel to this one is the Carlton, a few minutes walk back to the Grand Canal, it is a grander hotel than its sister & has an amazing roof terrace open to all (take the lift to floor 4). We spent a lot of time here for lunch & late drinks - it's such a great location & if you mention you're at the Capri you get 10% discount on everything. In summary the Capri is a great base to explore Venice from.
Ideal location directly oposite train station only ashort walk and across a bridge. Hotel and rooms are small but for the price was perfet for us. Breakfast was Ok. Ya get what you pay for here but the view out the front is great.
At the start of the Grand Canal, Santa Croce is set immediately across from the bus station and railway station. It is a peaceful quarter adjacent to, but largely unaffected by the visitor hubbub. The picturesque Ponte degli Scalzi is a great place for watching the busy canal traffic and there are many fines churches to explore off the beaten tourist track. The Rialto Bridge is only a 10-minute walk or boat ride away.
