“The Nicest Inn in Solvang”
Or so I'm told. Quaint. Cozy. Charming. Perhaps a little overpriced for an 'Inn', but from what friends tell me definitely the nicest in town. The Hadsten House is walking distance to all the shops/restaurants in Solvang, and close enough to the wineries in the surrounding area. We had a great but simple continental breakfast, and the word is that at night the restaurant attracts more than just those staying at the hotel (or should I say, really really nice motel). The only minor complaint we had was the ice machines, or lack there of. With only one located at the far corner of the inn it was hard to keep the champagne cold. We didn't have a chance to check out the day spa, but a decent sized jacuzzi and an indoor heated pool complete the Hadsten House experience.
“Can't wait to go back.”
The Hadsten House is conveniently located to shops and restaurants in Solvang, CA. The property is clean, attractive and ample parking. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The hot breakfast was a convenient and tasty way to start the day. I can't wait to return.
“Nice place in Solvang”
We have stayed here twice. Overall, it's a little expensive, but a nice place with good customer service. The staff is helpful. The layout of the hotel is like a motor inn, but it is clearly not your run of the mill motel. The rooms are really nice--and clean. You do get a glass of wine and cheese in the afternoon, and a nice free breakfast in the morning. The location is easy walking distance to anything in Solvang. It's a nice place to stay when going wine tasting.
“Good Hotel!”
Hotel is in a great location for walking to the in-town wine tasting rooms and is clean. We thought it was also pretty quiet but we were there first part of the week instead of on the weekend. The staff at the restaurant there was awesome too! My one suggestion for improvement is to update the beds. I was surprised at how bad the beds felt, it sagged quite a bit in one spot, and made sleeping rather uncomfortable but not unbearable. I would still stay here again though and recommend it.
“Clean and well-appointed”
This hotel was very clean and the furnishings were nice. It even had some unexpected amenities that made the rooms even more comfortable and enjoyable than expected. The rooms could have been a bit better sound-insulated; there was a fair bit of noise from other rooms and outside of the rooms that came in, but not during sleep-time which is what was important.
“Would Use Again”
Except for a strong smell on entering, probably something to do with ants on bath counter, I would use again. Nice indoor pool and separate hot tub area with two fireplaces. Good breakfast.
“Not the Ritz, but it is Solvang”
As others have said, Solvang hotels/motels are limited and probably none is terrific. In fact, walking or driving by some others, I'd have to say some are pretty shabby. But the town seems to emphasis its quaintness or village-like atmosphere, including its restaurants. This hotel is really a motel, with more parking lot than anything else. It could use some landscaping and a new exterior look somehow. But we chose it because it was advertised as upgraded, and indeed it is. Our first-floor room was small but clean with nice paint and fixtures, a decent though small bathroom with granite instead of the usual plastic crap. The bed was comfy and there was a small flatscreen TV with adequate cable. Internet access is free although strangely did not work well with Apple-based computers (confirmed by front desk) and the ethernet plug in my room did not work. My wife complained that nights were a little noisy, with people clomping up the stairs to the second floor. I was comatose from the winetasting, so no opinion. The hotel offers a very nice free buffet breakfast. The same dining room, which was not crowded at any time, is used for late afternoon free wine with cheese and fruit and also triples as a restaurant. We thought the dining room was dark and uninteresting so chose to eat out in the town which doesn't offer much either. Service at the front desk was fine and all in all the hotel rates a 3.5 out of 5 from someone who has been spoiled in world-class hotels.
“Loved it!”
My husband and I really loved this place. It is fabulous! The only thing I would have liked better is if the restaurant had at least an option of traditional Danish food. It was all American, so we had breakfast there and dinner other places.
“Absolutely would stay here again.”
We arrived in Solvang much earlier than the check-in time but let us get our room early since they hadn't been full the night before and knew there were rooms ready. Everybody was very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was great. The wine and cheese gathering was pleasant as well as tasty. All in all a charming experience.
“What's not to like?”
This is a 1950's-style two-story motel obviously rennovated in 2010-or-so, with all the sensibility one would expect from that. The complementary hot breakfast buffet is about 75% of what you might expect from Embassy Suites. (Yogurt and cold cereal lovers will go wanting.) The complementary cocktail time comes up a bit early and ends a bit early (3-5PM), but the wine selection was quite broad (6 or 7 varietals) and quite good. The two of us got a total of 8 chits for glasses of wine over a two-night stay. So, it is not an unlimited pour for "free," but the glasses were poured quite fully, an unexpected delight. We planned to eat dinner there the first night, but ended up eating there both nights, due to a great menu and chef.
