“will not stay again”
Housekeeping came all the way into our room while we were being "private" no announcement or knock on the door! rooms seemed old and staff was rude.
“They don't care about clients!”
Nice building, good neighborhood, quiet surroundings, dreadful lack of customer service on the parts of the counter attendant and staff. When we checked into the inn, we were told our room would not be ready for us to enter for a few hours (we did arrive early). We asked for our luggage to be stored and the person behind the counter said our bags must be placed in the main lobby, in sight of anyone who stopped in or even looked into the lobby. We didn't like that idea and asked that the bags be put behind the counter or in the office/private rooms behind the counter space. This was not agreeable to the counter-person and she grew agitated when we expressed our concern regarding the security of the bags. She went into the office to finish her lunch, with nobody around the counter when we walked around the lobby to look for alternatives and to get a cup of coffee. When we returned we had to call for the person to come back to the desk. At no time when eating lunch and what ever else she might have to do, was this person in view of the area where bags were to be stored. And at no time did this person treat us like customers... she was short with us, expressed great exasperation with our insistence that our bags be secured. At the last moment, she agreed to allow us to keep the bags just beyond the entry point to the counter area. We will not return to this facility and would never recommend this inn -- but we will make sure all know this is not the place to stay.
“Very close to Marathon finish!”
My husband and I stayed here while in town for the marathon. The staff was friendly enough. The bed was comfy, but the pillows hurt my head. The location was pretty darn great. Looks like they remodeled recently an over did the teal/brown motif. I woke someone up when I called at 5am asking for a late checkout. She seemed awfully annoyed but went ahead and gave me an 'ok'.
“Fair place”
The hotel is rather old, but the room was updated and ok, especially for the price. It was, however, very small. The staff (desk clerk) was unfriendly and coaxing a smile was a major undertaking. On a scale of one to ten it was a six.
“Average”
Fairly clean, poor room layout, would not return.
“Not impressed”
This hotel is totally outdated. You can tell that they have painted in the past few years and maybe bought some new chairs for the rooms but that's it, the rest is really old. I could barely open the door that led to the balcony and the lock was not secure at all. Our room was on the first floor facing the parking lot so we couldn't keep the curtains open without people seeing us. The only good thing was the bed was pretty comfortable. This hotel is a lot cheaper than others in the area but I would prefer spending a little more money for a better place.
“Would return again”
Convienent, nice breakfast and close to AMTRAK
“Weekend getaway in Santa Barbara”
I was very impressed with our recent stay at the Avantia Inn. Everything was just as I had expected from reading other reviews before booking our stay. The front desk was great. There was a wedding party staying at the hotel and she changed our room assignement, and upgraded us to a room with a balcony, without even us asking. It was nice and quiet at night and the king bed was very comfortable. The room was just enough space for 2. The recent renovations really gave the hotel a great fresh look. I highly recommend this hotel and I will gladly book again.
“California Beaches”
We loved this Hotel.
“Can't wait to go back.”
We had a great stay, they got us into the room early and we got a down stairs unit which had a big patio where we could put our bicyles . the room was very modern very comfortarable bed and linens. the contenental breakfast was also very good.
