“Away from the tourist attractions but convenient public transportation”

Spacious room/apartment. Bathroom and bedroom where clean and comfortable. Peaceful neighborhood, good restaurants with non-tourist prices. Mini market around the corner and supermarket a two blocks away. I like NH hotels for their service and quality but in this case it was the little details that were disappointing such as frayed towels, dusty curtains, worn-out sofabed, and kitchenette but no tableware. They lend us two cereal bowls but only until the next morning. Still, considering the price I think it was worthwhile.

Getting around

You can take bus L77 directly from the main airport to the hotel. Bus L77 travels between Airport and Sant Joan Despi. Since the hotel is at the final stop, you don't have to keep track on which stop to get off. Consider 1 hr of travel between airport-hotel or Hotel-Barcelona. Tram and bus stops are just a few minutes away. If you go out to party even if the metro and tram stop around midnight you have the night bus N15 that covers the rest of the night. When going from Barcelona to the hotel keep in mind to take the tram going to St. Feliu (there are three different stops)

“Fantastic suite - worth staying a bit further away from the central core”

I found the hotel and suite to be great. It was spacious and comfortable - like having your own apartment for the week. Make sure you ask for directions to the supermarket "Marcado" it's only about 5-mins away and a great convenience. There is no metro station nearby. You have to take a tram from the metro station to the hotel. The tram stop is about 5-mins away (across from the Mercado). The tram ride is about 20-mins. You also have the option of taking the bus to the metro which is also about 20-mins (Bus 78). Overall travel time, not taking into account waiting for the tram / bus, it takes about 40-mins to get to the downtown core. The only drawback and a VERY MINOR one at that, is the waiting time for the tram / bus. It runs every 20-30 mins during off peak times. The breakfast at the hotel for 8.00 euros was a great deal -- healthy and filling. The property and service was great, I would go back again.

Area recommendations

I would highly recommend doing a day trip out to Girona which is about an hour away. Lovely town with lots of beautiful narrow alley ways. The roman influence is still visible in the old part of the city. Simply breathtaking. I would also suggest going to Monserrat -- don't pay the over priced rates offered by the tour companies. It is very easy to do it on your own by hoping on the train. The advantage with a tour company however, is that I believe the tour group gets to jump the queue for entry inside the church but I'm not sure.

“hesperia sant joan suites”

good hotel if you know your way around barcelona/ tram-metro-bus if using bcn airport there is a bus t77 ( last stop) that stops seconds from the hotel. nice size swimming pool. there is good size supermarket two minutes away. small kitchen in the rooms/just for water, booze , snacks, but no plates etc. You can have breakfast at the hotel or just walk a block or two to cafes( which is cheaper/ Not much around the hotel but i just wanted a place just to crash. If you want the metro you need to get onto the tram first/ which might rise the cost of travel/ t10 card came in handy.To get into the heart of barcelona might take about 30min. would use again

“A lot of room for the money”

The hotel is definitely out of the way but easy to get to with the public transportation system. The tram is a couple blocks away, which is a quick ride to the Metro. From the Metro you can get anywhere in the city. There is a supermarket just a couple blocks away as well. The room was quite large with a mini kitchen. Minimal kitchenware was available upon request. The bathroom was nice and clean. The hallways echoed and you could easily hear your neighbors from the main room but not too bad from the bedroom. The front desk attendants were pretty helpful and spoke enough english to communicate effecitvely. The housekeeping staff spoke no english. For the price, it was worth the extra travel time.

Area recommendations

Look at a Metro train map and pick somewhere within zone 1, that way you know you'll be able to get everywhere without needing a taxi - very expensive.

Must see

I highly recommend the hop on/hop off city bus for a day. You can see all of the attractions the city has to offer. Then pick out the couple attractions that you want to see in detail for the next day. The Sagrada Familia is a MUST SEE! The Magic Fountains are top of the list as well. The show is 2 hours long and I believe only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. The beach was nice but lots of women go topless - so not very kid friendly.

“Good Time in Barcelona”

When we book the hotel, we were not expecting that this hotel will be that good. But when we get there it was really good. Staff - All helpful, speak english, professional. Location - it is only 40 minutes bus (L77) from airport. Only 30 minutes to Downtown area (Maria Cristina). It has got 2 Tram stops nearby. Just 3 mins walk from hotel. Service - We took breakfast option as it is reasonable price and it was excellent. Room - Rooms(Apartments) are spacious. It has got Lounge with kitchen and sperate bed room. And... Nice view of Barcelona.Sun set, sun rise, night scence. Price - We have got what we paid for. Plus convenience. When you get to this hotel, you should check restaurants at the back road of the hotel. They are great. I would recommend any of you who is reading this review. You won't be upset.

For shopping - Maria Cristina For sightseeing - take a tour bus. For beach - well just go to the beach. :)

“Would return”

We were very pleased with the accessibility of this hotel to transportation to Barcelona and airport. It was a great value for one on a budget.. Fast early check in and helpful staff. This was our 2nd stay and I would recommend it to others.

“Barcelona in suburbs”

The value of this hotel was excellent. To find an apartment hotel at this price was wonderful. It was easy to get to central Barcelona at the bus stop very close by and a taxi stand to go to the airport was right outside across the street. The train stop was about 4 blocks away. The only part I wasn't pleased with was that there were no carpeted rooms or hallways and it was a bit noisy because of that. Staff was very helpful. I'd certainly go back.

Area recommendations

So hard to choose a favorite area in Barcelona because it is all great, but I'd say anywhere served by the tourist buses is good.

Getting around

Take the red, blue and green tourist buses (Hop on hop off) to see all of the sights. Also take the city buses. They are wonderfully fast, frequent, priced well, clean and easy to use. Taxi'sare expensive.

“Some good points, but check about the facilities on offer.”

Was aware that the hotel was not in the centre, but travelling in wasn't so bad. BUT the swimming pool is not available until 15th June, and this was not mentioned in the description of the facilities, so we missed out on this.

“A relaxing, clean, safe hotel outside the bustle of the city”

For our family, this hotel was perfect! Our room was wonderful - we had a two-room suite with kitchenette. We asked for cooking supplies and got plates, cups, pans, scrubbers - all great. It is perfect for walkers - and those who enjoy company of travel companions. It is 40 minutes by easy tram/subway into the Ramblas. We had free internet in the room and BBC educating us in Englishl Everything was spotless, the room was spacious, the beds were totally comfortable, and the restaurant was delicious. There is a weight room with modern equipment and a sauna you can sign up for. There were a few good restaurants one street over. "We prepared our own breakfast and supper and left for the full day to explore and eat one great meal. To arrive from Tthe airport and return - the bus leaves from right across the street to all terminals - the L77 - and costs 1.7 Euros - A REAL BARGAIN! Spanish-speakers will especially feel at home - though it is workable with English only. The hotel staff speaks perfect English and other languages as well.

Area recommendations

If you want nightlife and a bustling city, stay in safe areas of the Ramblas. If you like to explore other venues and get the sense of Catalan and the people, and want space to relax, this area works well.

Events and shows

My son was able to scalp tickets to a Barcelona Football game - FCB vs. Arsenal. He saw Messi make 4 goals, making Messi AT LEAST one of the top soccer players in the world. He sat in a cheering crowd of 100,000. That experience was one-of-a-kind!
