Cosy room - only six rooms in total. Heating and glazed windows for sound proofing. Comfortable bed and small but functional bathroom. Great towels.
Right on the Main Street in historic centre of Siena but private and not affected by street noise. Three floors up by lift - which is on the outside of a medieval building and quite an experience in itself.
Entrance extremely hard to find as the numbers for the street were not present and there is no sign in the street for the hotel. It's at the back of a courtyard occupied by day by a florist.
The young receptionist was the most helpful person - welcoming and eager to assist. Excellent English. I had a problem with contacting my bank in Australia and she did everything possible to get the connection happening. She also arranges the breakfast some mornings and it was plentiful and a great selection of local foods. Room service for tea and coffee on white linen tray.

We loved this hotel! It was charming and located right near the square and within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, supermarket, internet stop, etc. Taxi ride from the train station was under 10 Euros. The only thing we didn't like - and we really didn't like this - was that housekeeping staff entered our room TWICE without knocking. The people at the front desk stored our luggage for us after we checked out and also called a taxi for us, which we really appreciated.
We drove right up to the hotel despite several signs saying that you shouldn't drive in the old city - no one seems to mind if you are just dropping off luggage. I would not like to maneuver a large car or SUV through Casato di Sotto though! We then parked in the nearby municipal lot, which is a 5-10 minute walk away. We met Daniela at the hotel when we arrived, at the time we had pre-arranged, and she was very nice and helpful. She gave us a useful map of the town and pointed us to a decent and reasonable restaurant down the street. We were surprised that the private bathroom was down the hallway from our room, not adjoining the room, but it was private in the sense that it was for our use only and we had a key for the door. The room was very dark and quiet, which was a positive for us, but some might feel claustrophobic.

Bother working the front desk beyond kind!
If in peak tourist season avoid driving into city.
Would recommend walking into center of city with smaller
Bags to accommodate yourself (we stayed 2 nights) rather
Than brin large suitcases, as Siena is full of steep hills!
Otherwise location is ideal! Steps from il campo!

We spent 2 weeks in Italy and this was the best hotel we stayed in. When we got there they upgraded us to a suite with a small balcony on the Grand Canal. Because we stayed 3 nights they also gave us a free trip out to the island of Murano. When you check in you will see behind the desk the awards that this hotel staff has won for service. They were so helpful and gave us such good practical advice on everything we asked them about. Wow! I
We stayed one night and the location could not have been better. The staff was extremely polite and helpful and served a wonderful simple breakfast. Going up the four flights of stairs was not that difficult and a baggage lift is available if you need it.

We had a wonderful time. The hotel staff arrange a great tour of an olive oil/balsamic vinegar/vineyard. Priceless. Also they arrange a city tour (a must). One misses a lot of information about the city with a self guided tour. Recommend great restaurants.
