"Pleasant for a short stay in Cambria."
We drove from San Francisco to San Diego, and randomly booked this hotel because it was near Hearst Castle, which we wanted to visit. We got two rooms, one for Grandma and Granddaughter, and one for Grandad and Grandson. Only rooms with one kingsize bed were available, while we prefer two double beds, so we had to share a bed, but they were really big beds, and weren't a problem. We arrived there late evening on a Friday and left early Sunday. The location on the beach is great, our room had a nice "ocean view" from the patio, but I don't think all the rooms do. It was a very easy and short drive to Hearst Castle, and across the street from Hearst Castle, is a dock, from which we saw a whale. The little town of Cambria is quaint, and we had a nice lunch there. There are few if any restaurants or shops within walking distance of this hotel, you have to drive into town. When we left on Sunday we drove into Paso Robles, which is about 30 minutes inland and had a great wine tasting. The front desk people are very friendly, check in was easy and efficient, the rooms are adequately sized, with a small refrigerator, and there may have been a microwave, I can't remember. Bed was comfortable. It was perfect for our two nights. We never encountered a lot of traffic.
