“Excellent hotel quality, sham about quiet city”

Hotel is completed to high standard and provides excellent service. Clearly a hotel designed to cater for those travelling on business requiring self-catering capability. Unfortunately there appears to be very little in Santa Maria to do and so this lets things down a little. However, as a stop-over location, or for people who want to relax in a quiet area this is a good hotel.

“Would Stay There Again”

My daughter and I stayed here 1 night for a graduation in SLO. Convenient location, close to the fwy. Clean lobby and room. Room was large with full kitchen. They have a little mini market downstairs for food and drinks. Twice I needed to talk to someone at the front desk and there was no one there. That is my only complaint.

“Sooooo Impressed”

My stay at Candlewood Suites far exceeded my expectations. The staff was so friendly and helpful, the room very upscale with granite countertops and fine tile in both the kitchen area and the bathroom. A very wide choice of programming was available on the flat screen TV. The snack room was open all night, with 24 hour free coffee there supplementing the free coffee in the room. The view from the window was of pleasant, open green areas. The slight inconvenience of finding my way in to the parking lot was the only point that was not perfect about the Candlewood. Although I didn't use the workout room I noticed that other guests did. I can see why the Candlewood Suites is the choice of both short-term and long-term guests.

“Girls Weekend”

My Friend and I wanted to meet for a girls weekend she lives in LA and I live in San Francisco. This was a half way point for both of us and we are glad we chose to stay here. The room was nice and had a kitchen which gave us options on our meals for the weekend. The staff was kind and helpful and the hotel was quiet. I would definitely stay again!

“New, clean, convenient”

Unlike many guests in this suites hotel, I stayed only one night. I booked through a blind offer on Expedia and got an excellent rate. The hotel seems very new. Everything was clean, freshly painted and in new or nearly new condition. The appliances in the kitchenette were good quality brands, but I did not cook while I was there; I don't know how well they actually worked. The bathroom was large and comfortable. Oddly, the door would not open completely because it hit a drawer handle on the vanity. Other than that, the layout was convenient. The TV was new, HD, and had a good selection of digital and analog stations. The volume was capped at a pretty low level, but it was loud enough as long as the air conditioner wasn't running. Speaking of which, the A/C was pretty loud. It woke me up several times during the night. In addition, the sound-proofing of the windows was not quite up to the task of quieting the traffic noises on the nearby highway and street. Rooms on the parking-lot side of the hotel might not have as much problem with traffic noise. The bed was comfortable and truly a queen size (not some shortened version of "queen" I've seen in other places). The lobby staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, I'm a fan of this Candlewood Suites. I would stay here again if I were in the area (and could get that great Expedia rate again).

“Would stay again”

Nice business class hotel that met our needs. Front desk staff forget that customers are not always experienced business travelers and could be more helpful at check-in, such as mentioning that rooms are not cleaned daily. Found a notice on the room bulletin board after first night.

“Clean, and comfortable hotel”

Everything was good except the beds.... We had 2 queen beds and they borh were in bad condition. The beds caused backaches for next few days.. The room was very big, clean, and comfortable. The kitchenette had dishes and utensils, what ever you need was there. The bathroom was very clean and nice, with fluffy towels. We really liked the hotel except the beds...

“WONDERFUL!!!!!”

We were unexpectedly surprised. The room was more than we thought it would be. It had everything and more! New & well maintained, from the big fluffy towels to the silverware. We will definetly stay there again, and also look for other hotels in that chain in other ciies. Would most certainly reccomend!!!!!

“Will never stay here again!!”

There was no room service unless you stayed seven days or longer. I couldn't even get fresh towels. Most higher class hotels provide at least a continental breakfast. Candlewood Suites had a snack room where you could purchase food at exhorbitant prices. The TV volume was also regulated so it would only go to a fixed volume. Whenever the air conditioner came on you couldn't hear the TV at all. Also had a very large cockroach crawl accross the floor. Very disappointing especially since the room rates were so high.
