“VERY NICE GET AWAY”
VERY NICE 'EXTRA INCLUDED' FREE GOODIES IN ROOM. VERY NICE HOTEL.
“Great for romantic getaway”
We visited La Fonda twice now and stayed in two different rooms. Spa room is definitely targeted towards couples, while Great Room had a kitchenette that allowed us to eat in during our visit. Room is nicely decorated and comfortable although it gets a bit hot so make sure to run the AC. My husband enjoyed their pantry with all kinds of snacks at Costco cost price - nice touch. The feeling is homey and we'll definitely be back. A couple of warnings about the kitchenette - it is equipped but interesting things are missing. There is an oven but no cookie sheet or anything to use in the oven. No mixing bowls or such. And the single knife is totally dull and unuseable. Avila Market has most basics, but if you want anything specific food-wise bring it along. And don't miss the Friday afternoon Farmer's Market!
“This place rocks!”
Best hotel I have ever stayed at.
“Could be noisy”
The sound insulation is not that good. I could hear people talking and walking in the upstairs room. Be sure to ask for upstairs room if you have low tolerance on noise. Also, the bed was kind of worn-out. Giving the age of the hotel, it should not be that way. However, everything else was very satisfactory.
“Best Known Secret Retreat on the Central Coast”
Wonderful experience overall. Great hotel staff, clean and very romantic suite. Easy walking distance to beach, shopping and dinning. I would highly recommend staying here, but would rather keep it a secret from the masses.
“Not Impressed at all.”
Very disappointed. Expected much nicer accomodations for the price we paid. Room was just ok. The murphy bed was horrible. Carpet was worn and dirty in the room we stayed in. This hotel offers many free snacks, in the rooms and in the lobby. Also has a closet of snacks at cost. Sadly, that was the highlight of this hotel. When we were ready to leave, I found the person "manning the desk" outside sweeping the entry way. I told him we wanted to check out-he said put the key on the desk. That was it-no "thank-you", no "how was your stay with us", no "was everthing to your satisfaction". Very unprofessional. Expected more based on the rate we paid.
“Avila La Fonda”
This is a great get-away hotel. Room and amenities are excellent. Bed was very comfortable (King). We did not use or want the spa tub so next time I would request one of 2 second floor "retreat" room with sitting area instead of tub. Staff is very helpful. Provides beach chairs and towels. Eating in Avila Beach is somewhat problematic due to lack of restaurant choices. Custom House has good breakfast and lunch menus but dinner is extremely expensive with formal entrees only, no sandwiches.
“Great hotel and great location”
Avilla beach is beautiful, its a niche little beach and is hidden a little from Pismo beach. The hotel location is 1 block away from beach and the parking around town gets full, so its really convenient to stay here. The room we had, had a jacuzzi tub inside the room and the shower had water coming from 2 walls. The room was nice and clean and the service was excellent. Would go back again in the future.
“Derek”
Very special, excellent Spanish style hotel. Very clean, nice and helpful staff with excellent service.
“Very homey and relaxing!”
Very comfortable bed, great shower, charming decor. Loved the homey atmosphere with the free chocolate chip cookies, & lemonade available in the lounge, also the selection of movies available to borrow. Nice to be able to walk to Joe Mama's and The Custom House. Charming town all around. We'll be back!
