Cozy getaway.
Service is very good and the desk staff are very helpful and warm. Only that the cabin seemed to be needing some updates, especially on the beddings and a newer bed.

Deer Harbor Resort
My husband and I stayed overnight for a wedding. Cottage 114 was a little small and the hot tub was more like a warm bath. However, my brother and my Pop both stayed as well and they had newly remodeled cottages (119 and 128) that they enjoyed very much. The grounds were well maintained and although the hot tub wasn't as hot as we like it, it was also maintained and clean. The front desk was pleasant and the surrounding area is lovely. We usually stay at Deer Harbor Inn and not Deer Harbor Resort but they were booked full. I will try to reserve back at Deer Harbor Inn next time.

Room was fairly comfortable until afternoon when it got quite warm due to warm, sunny weather. Unit was clean and tidy but no AC. Not having cell service from my unit caused some problems as I could not communicate with family members who were also on the island.

Beautiful surroundings
Deer Harbor Resort is very beautiful although somewhat quaint. We were there in early September and the weather and surroundings were gorgeous. The room did not have air conditioning so we had a fan blowing most of the time. It made staying in the room and sleeping at night rather uncomfortable. The room was wonderfully designed and very comfortable otherwise. My husband complained that the hot tub would not get very hot (a problem in the cooler months I would think) and that the bed hurt his back but the view was spectacular. At one point, the room was cleaned and the rubber shower mat was removed. When I went to the office to get another one, they didn't have any, which made taking a shower rather percarious. Also, there is only one restaurant close by and no stove in the room so we ended up getting pre made foods from the grocery store (a thirty minute drive), Unforunate.

lovely setting. we stayed in a quaint historical cottage (other types of accommodation were also available). okay continental breakfast. somewhat removed from town, so dinner options were a little limited, but the nearby Deer Harbor Inn served good food at a reasonable price. staff could not have been friendlier.

we finally brought the kids...they loved it!
The room was great for our family because the bedroom was separate from the sitting room and kitchette, so my husband I could put the kids to bed and still have some time to have a night cap and hot tub after the kids were asleep. The room, hot tub, sitting areas and pool are very comfortable. They need to expand wifi to reach all the way to the rooms. I don't want to sit outside the closed lobby at night answering emails

Orcas island get away
This has the feel of a quaint and secluded resort. We stayed in a deluxe suite . The hot tub cover was in need of replacement and the deck chairs were not comfortable but what a view!!!This was an anniversary so we were not looking for family fun. But they had a nice pool and safe accommodations for kids. Easy access to marina fun. Good continental b-fast tho not local coffee. Even though it's not in the hub of the island it's not too far away to drive to whatever you want to do. We played golf at the local course. Hilly and challenging! Great weekend. Some day I hope to do a float plane!

For the price, this was a great stay! The staff was friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast didn't knock your socks off - but again, for the price, it was more than you needed!

Great relaxing location, friendly staff
Our unit was clean and comfortable, and tucked away in a peaceful Bay on the island. Check-in/out was a breeze and all front desk staff were helpful and kind. We really enjoyed the pool on a warm afternoon and the hottub on our deck was hot and private, though a little high on chlorine. Close to the small marina with great lunch items and out of this world onion-rings. Laundry facilities were at the marina, but clean and affordable. The Island is small enough where everything seems close within 15-20 minutes to the far-side. We will definnitely be back.

Beautiful and relaxing
We stayed in one the historic cottages. It could use modernizing such as updated shower and flat screen TV. Exterior paint could use a redo. The staff was awesome, helpful and friendly. The views and scenery are beautiful. The grounds are very nice. The pool and surrounds are very nice. The breakfast area was comfortable and the food was good. Not much on proteins but breads, rolls, cereal, yogurt, fruit, hard boiled eggs, good coffee. A short walk up the road was a great restaurant. The rooms have a fridge and microwave There is a small market on the dock in the marina. We were very pleased with our stay and will do it again. Sitting on the deck or in the jacuzzi as the sun goes down was so nice and relaxing. There is a small beach, kayaks, whale watching tours. We came by boat and did not have a car.

Lots of extras and amazing location
We were pleasantly surprised by our room and the whole Resort. The location is ideal, in a very quiet spot with stunning views of Deer Harbor. Lots of extras in the room (hot tub in the terrace, fridge, microwave...) made it a great value for money experience. We'd definitley stay again!

Facility had a great view overlooking the harbor. The marina was convenient. The staff was very professional and fiendly. The smaller cabins were a little worn.

Resort is a misnomer. Maybe Deer Harbor Motel.
We thought the bed was kinda hard. The biggest annoyance was the curtains in the room. They were mismatched and only one was opaque enough to shut out most of the morning light. One window covering was almost transparent. Very sheer. Unfortunately, it was on a window that faced a street. My wife was pretty sure anyone driving by could look in. We used one of the complementary bath robes to cover that window. Another window didn't have any curtain or otherwindow covering. We used a chair cushion to cover that one. I felt the room could have been a little nicer for the price we paid.

A LOVELY BREAK FROM THE TEXAS HEAT
THE CABIN WAS MORE THAN WE COULD HAVE EVER EXPECTED- THE FRONT DESK STAFF WAS EXCEPTIONAL ! THE BREAKFAST EVERY MORNING FILLED OUR TUMMIES AND HELD US OVER UNTIL DINNER TIME. HAVING A FIREPLACE AND A HOT TUB WOW-ED US. YES, WE WANT TO RETURN. THE ENTIRE ORCAS ISLAND WELCOMED US LIKE WE WERE LONG LOST FRIENDS WHO HAD RETURNED TO HOME- WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO RETURN TO SUCH A WARM LOVELY WELCOMING PLACE? Loved the cottage, and the view made it perfect. The hot tub on the porch added to make the sunset spectacular! Staff was awesome. Great breakfast! Very nice to be so close to the marina.

Overall splendid place!
We stayed in the "historical cottage", nice enough, slightly dated, the other cottages in the pictures are probably more updated. My one complaint would be the bed was hard. I folded up a blanket from the closet and put it under the sheet for some softness. There was an under-counter fridge, microwave. Nice place to stay, for sure. Very nice people in the lobby- great breakfast-yogurt, granola, muffins, excellent coffee, teas, juices. We did not get to use the hot tub, but it is right on the deck outside of the sitting area-very convenient. The cottages are on a steep drive that you can walk down to the harbor for a great wildlife/whale watching tour with Tom from Deer Harbor. EXCELLENT crew, great adventure! SUPER referral, Janine@Deer Harbor Resort! (10% off for DHR guests) There is also a nice walking trail that is paved well enough for someone with foot or balance issues. Beautiful scenery and a bench or two. Easy drive to horseback riding stables, good restaurants, shopping. Drive slow, see deer, eagles up in the tree canopies, bunnies. Magical place.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable except for the hard bed. We prefer pillow tops. The hotel employees and view were fantastic. You have to drive for food unless you want to utilize the bbq for meals.

I've stayed here twice and both times were pretty amazing. I've stayed in the smaller cottage and the big cottage and both were incredibly neat. The location is amazing and everything about it was great. Staff were very nice, hospitable, and helpful.

Our stay at Deer Harbor Resort was pleasant but not outstanding. Positives include: Friendly staff, clean room, personal hot tub on deck, lots of towels, fireplace and a nice breakfast spread in the morning. Negatives include: no pet friendly rooms, heated pool not open and the mattress was hard and lumpy.

The woman who checked me in was so nice and another staff person recommended a great walk for my kids and suggesting the best places for possible otter sightings. The fact that there is a PRIVATE HOT TUB is not to be overlooked. Breakfast is peaceful, welcoming and has much more healthy options than the normal faire. Drawbacks are few. 10-15 minute drive to a grocery store, but stock up and use the rooms fridge and microwave and just hunker down and stay put for a few days. Perfect, stress free stay on a lovely and peaceful island.

Perfect 'rock harbor' getaway on Orcas Island! Even off-season, the fireplace and hot-tub warmed us after rainy hikes; the down duvet was just right. Quiet resort just above the marina, for easy access to whale-watch/wildlife boat tours. Yummy breakfast before heading out. We'll be back!

If You Love View of Harbor......
What a beautiful spot for a resort. We were right across from Deer Harbor. We could sit in our hot tub and look out at the water. Looking at the outside of the suites we stayed in, you wondered what it looks like inside. Being so near the water I suspect the outside condition of the buildings would look worn, which they did. But, when you walk inside it's really nice. My husband and I both thought it was a place we would love to come back to. Very quiet. Close enough to Eastsound to go shopping or eat. The staff super friendly and made you feel welcomed. Breakfast in the morning was impressive too. I highly recommend Deer Harbor Resort.

This place was awesome! Best place ever! Personal outdoor hot tub, fireplace, whirlpool bath tub, king bed. We expected individual cottages might show wear or be hard to keep so clean, but everything about this place was perfect. From the moment we walked into our cottage we were amazed at the beauty & comfort that set the tone for the wknd. Stay in the deluxe accommodations - well worth it! Beautiful views of the marina during the days, and all the starts above us at night.

A Little Slice of Heaven
Great service. We stayed in the deluxe cottage. Private hot tub on deck, jetted tub, kitchenette, fireplace and new flat screen TV. Fantastic continental breakfast. Only downside is if you go in the off season, you only have one option for dinner, the Inn and the prices are steep and selection...ok. Best bet is to drive to East sound. The view of the bay is stunning and stargazing from the hot tub on your private deck...Heaven!

Deer Harbor (Orcas Island) Resort - a great choice
Really enjoyed our girls get-away in our newly remodeled suite at the Deer Harbor Resort during the off-season (end of December). Very quiet. Loved the hot tub on the deck (every unit has one!). Situated just up a hill from a beautiful marina. 15 minutes from small town of Eastsound (quaint shops and restaurants) and 15 minutes to the ferry (we took the ferry and spent an afternoon on San Juan Island). Breakfast in the hotel lobby was nice (cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, pastries, boiled eggs, juices and coffee/tea) -- two or three fruit choices would have been nice. The only complaint about the room was that the tv was pretty small (19 or 20 inch, I believe). Also, we did not have cellphone access, and WiFi was only available for a fee.

Great Relaxing Weekend Spot
My husband and I had a terrific stay. We stayed in a deluxe cottage and loved the space and privacy. The layout of the cottage is very nice and it was very comfortable. We especially loved the fireplace and the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The kitchenette and the TV/DVD player were nice additional perks that helped make everything feel very home-y. The finishes in the cottage are not over-the-top luxurious but are still very nice, attractive, and clean.

Great staff very upbeat and helpful. Ther is a need to keep the pussywillow leaves off the sidewalks. Got my foot caught in them because they are so long and tangle without much effort. Loved the hot tub (private)

Deer Harbor Resort-Orca Island
DO NOT BOOK THE HISTORICAL COTTAGES! The room was very dated and not very clean-I was able to get an upgrade for more moneyand that room was very nice, clean and had a electric fireplace and hot tub on the deck -Unit 106 -there is very little in Deer Harbor but these units and the marina. There is kayaking outfitter -and whale watching boat-both were excellent at the marina.The marina has a grill and laundry. There is nice public walking path nearby.Eastsound is not far and has shops, resturants, library and grocery store.You need a car or moped to get around but there is an island shuttle that runs a few times a day also. The biggest drawback is there is not cell tower nearby and I could not get cell phone service I had to go to Eastsound to make calls.

We had a great time here. It was nice and quiet and had enough room for our family of 5. Each cabin has it's own hot tub on the deck which was a wonderful suprise. Also, a great continental breakfast was included in our stay. The staff was so helpful and kind. We will definately be back!!

surpises abound in seaside resort
Just off of 3 glorious days on the water/camping, our warm shower, comfortable bed, private hot tub cabin was a welcome reprieve from the outdoors. Our more-than continental breakfast was a nice surprise. Mariah was a gracious hostess. Lovely relaxing end to our vacation.

Really nice service.
Great customer service. Nice having a cabin all to yourself with a jacuzzi. A little pricey, but all the cabins and hotels on Orcas Island are expensive. They have a really nice heated swimming pool and your own jacuzzi on the porch of your cabin. Not as clean as I was hoping for, but very glad my husband and I stayed there.

Deer Harbor Resort, quiet spot on Orcas Island
This was our second trip to Deer Harbor resort. The last was in 2002 and we always remembered how peaceful and relaxing our stay was on that weekend trip. This trip was also very relaxing. The staff was exceptional from check in to check out and everything in between. We used the central patio area to barbecue our dinner one night and enjoyed the view looking out over the harbor and marina. Our three children had a great time too. We'll definitely return again during the summer for a longer stay!

This is a very peaceful place. There is not much of town around it. There was no reception for our phones. This is secluded. You can drive 20 minutes to the next town and get good phone reception. If you want a quiet get away this is it! The staff was beyond great. They were very helpful to us. The people in the town were friendly. We enjoyed a nice quiet get away just relaxing. The rooms were nice with a great hot tub on the deck that you could seat in while you looked out on the bay. Pretty awesome view.

Can't Wait to Go Back!
We were amazed at the quality of the accommodations and the friendliness of the staff. We went in November, so we felt like we couldn't fully enjoy everything the Resort had to offer. We would definitely like to visit again, but maybe in the summer.
