“Wouldnt go back”
The hotel is worn out, two of the restaurants were closed on Saturday night at 8pm, leaving only an over crowded noisy bar to dine. We walked two blocks to restaurant rather than eating at the hotel. When we arrived, there were no towels in the room, and it took a good hour before some were brought to our room and then only two bath towels. There are other hotels nearby, but I have stayed at Double Tree Hotels all over the country and they were all nice, but not this one. We were just looking for one night close to the airport for an early flight out next morning.
“Best deal in town”
Due to a number of factors, I needed to spend the night before Thanksgiving in a hotel. I decided to stay at the Double Tree for it is very close to the airport and provides a shuttle service there on a frequent basis. This mitigated the risk of not finding parking at the airport on the day of my flight and the cost of the room was less than I would have paid for parking. Given that I live in San Jose, I had never stayed at the Double Tree and was a bit leery about the low price for the rooms. However, these concerns were alleviated once I got into the room. In general, the rooms were quite clean and spacious. The furnishings were up-to-date and everything was working as it should. I should also mention that the staff at the hotel was quite friendly. For example, due to a mix-up on my part, I originally thought I did not have a reservation but the front desk was able to fix that with no problem. Then, it was later realized that I had two reservations when only one was needed. That too was addressed in a very cheerful style. (Thanks to Laurel and Jerri!) If I were a visitor to San Jose, I would definitely plan to stay there. Who knows, I may be back at the hotel next year around Thanksgiving time...
“One thing wrong”
I gave this hotel high ratings across the board with the exception of one thing: "Quality of hotel service". Except for one thing, the hotel's service was great. The problem is that they wanted $12.95 a night to use the Internet in your room. I've stayed at hotels that cost less than half what this one costs, and it is very common for them to have complimentary Internet access in your room. I use the Internet frequently and I intentionally make sure that the hotels that I stay at have in-room Internet access. For what this hotel costs, the Internet access should certainly be complimentary, when much less expensive hotels provide this service. At $12.95 a night, the cost for Internet at this hotel calculates to approximately $400 a month. Are any of you willing to pay that much for Internet access?
“Maybe...”
A lot of things went wrong. My wake-up call didn't happen the first night. My alarm clock was broken. The bathtub drained even more painfully slow (ankle deep in shower water). The boarding pass computer did not work. The computers in the lobby were painfully slow. Everyone there was very helpful, just seems these things should not have happened to begin with.
“Satisfactory experience”
Would go back because of proximity to airport.
“Excellent accomodations & great value”
Hotel is 5 minutes from San Jose airport and offers many amenities: free wifi in the lobby of hotel, nice large pool for lap swimming w/ jacuzzi, standard room is large, bathroom + extra sink are decent size. Highly recommend for business travelers and those needing quick airport access!
“Bed Bug Alert”
I awoke late @ night to find a bug crawling on my blanket. When I squashed it there was quite a bloody mess. I jumped up and found more bed bugs under my pillow. EEK! The hotel staff relocated us to a different room but seemed so indifferent that I suspect this is not the first such occurrence there. Big nightmare trying to avoid bringing extra hotel guests (bed bugs) home with us. Discarded luggage. Hotel sent a security guard to our room to assist us with relocation to another room and while he was in our room he used our phone to respond to a complaint about a guest with a firearm! Also, $18 minimum daily fee to park your own car ($21 valet) and no in-room wifi service. We will not be returning to this hotel. Ever.
“Great Experience Overall”
This hotel has a great location if you're planning to fly in or out of San Jose, and a convenient complimentary airport shuttle. Wonderful experience, after 3 different stays. The only thing I would change is the fitness room. It has western facing windows that let the sun pour in in the afternoon, which heats the whole room up, and there are NO FANS. We could not take advantage of the fitness room because it was much too warm and very stuffy--no air circulation that we could feel.
“weak and over priced”
Positives: Clean airline boarding pass computer in lobby computers in lobby, (didn't use but was there) Pool cool, gym basic setup nice size flat screen TV plenty of small pillows Negatives 1 of 2 lamps had a high pitch whine TV had intermittent high pitch whine stained ceiling tile in bathroom basically clean but had bad spots paint splatters all through the room including on the dresser closet blanket still had cleaning tag from 2009 only pickup of dishes once a day, so drink glasses in hall all day had a margarita that was missing ingredeances so was very tart prices are excessive, was on hold at airport for long time when called to get pickup
“Family Get-together”
We love the hotel for its convenience and location. The only thing that we would like to see is that the free internet service be available in the rooms ... I usually bring my laptop with me when I travel. Having to bring it down to the lobby or free-wireless zones was not convenient for me. I would prefer spending the quiet moments in my room working on my laptop. Other than that, the hotel was friendly and well-maintained...and very close to the airport.
