Meant so much to us having him to talk to when we first landed in Costa Rica. Martino Hotel was overall an amazing stay. Beautiful pool area kept very tidy and clean! Made us feel at home!
The hotel is about 10 minutes from the airport. Easy to get to. Large and fully secured parking lot. Beautiful setting, all rooms are around the pool. Big comfortable rooms, microwave, frig, safe, hair drier, iron and board in short, everything you need. Free breakfast in a lovely restaurant. We will definitely be back on our next trip
Beautiful views of San Jose and the other towns in the valley, great food and plenty of recreational activities especially if you have children or teenagers, hiking, waterfalls, hot tubs, swimming pools, zip lines, etc.
Stayed first and last nights there before leaving for more traditional tourist spots. Nice to have free pickup and shuttle back to airport. Room very nice, breakfast very good, good restaurants in hotel or across street. Looks like a resort with gorgeous grounds, multiple pools, gardens, orchid garden, etc.

Once you've marvelled at your surroundings, your accommodation and the facilities, thinking that you must be dreaming, the staff and management just embrace you and you are part of the family. I travelled on my own but it was the same for couples too. All the staff at El Silencio are professional to the nth degree and their customer service first class but in a relaxing way that makes one feel at home. A fellow guest on the day of departure said she felt as though she was saying goodbye to her family and I knew exactly how she felt.
The lushness and beauty of the scenery cannot adequately be captured and you can walk endlessly through the acres and marvel at just about everything.
The food is wonderfully fresh - much of it local, enhanced by the herbs and spices grown in the grounds.
To wake up in the morning to birdsong and the rush of water from the nearby fast flowing stream was awesome and then to sit out on the verandah in a beautifully crafted rocking chair with a cup of hot Costa Rican coffee - indescribable . Then after a day of rafting or zip- lining through the canopy what better than to have jacuzzi in the privacy of your own bungalow - just pure bliss!
Emilio was knowledgeable in the 2hr,four elements walk;a positive coach with the zip- lining and entertaining company in the rafting;Jennifer offered a brilliant massage and facial at the spa; Alonso patience,excellent customer service and humour , Chef Carlos - what a cook and all lead by Arnay the Wonderful GM.
Everything was great with the Pure Vida Spa and Yoga Retreat. The one big problem is that if a person goes on their website it says all meals are included. But, if you book through EXPEDIA the meals are not included and you will receive a whooping extra charge per meal eaten there. Be ready to pay more than expected.
The view is great and there is a very nice coffee field right across from the property which made for a very senic run and walk.
