“Great price! Great location!”
This had been our 3rd stay at Hotel Alta. We have rental property at the beach and we come to San Jose twice a year for kids check ups and to buy supplies for our rental property. Hotel Alta offers great price for a nice big room and it is very comfortable for our family ( 1 and 3 year old ). I love the bathtub in every room, it makes it perfect for our boys and having a crib ready in our room upon arrival is a big plus too. I would recommend this hotel to anybody, you won't be disappointed. And if you have time you should try their restaurant it is outstanding!
“Love this Hotel”
We had a great two night stay and enjoyed every minute. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff was excellent. I would heartly recommend it.
“Beautiful Hotel”
Very nice hotel sittiing on the hill overlooking the city. There is a small nature reserve where you can see animals that have been injured or were rescued as pets nearby. For us it was a great hotel to stay at for a night prior to going to the airport the following morning.
“Nice hotel, but not for the business traveler”
If you want to rent a car in Costa Rica, then please by all means choose this hotel, the atmosphere is great, lookes very much as a Hacienda or some little Mexican/Spanish Villa in the middle of a nice mountain weather location, near Multiplaza Escazu and other amenities. But, if your in taxi and for business as I was, by all means get to something a lot closer to the business areas, this was a 30-40$ ride from airport area to hotel, this city have too much traffic and a very few alternate choices so keep your pocket safe or rent directly with a GPS service. The hotel is very clean, people friendly but needs a bit more of staff, specially in the reception and room service department. The instalations, perfect for a coulpe's retreat with a balcony and a very nice view of the mountains and the city.
“Excellent stay”
The hotel was comfortable, peaceful and tidy. The staff was extremely helpful and accomodating to our needs. We certainly would return there.
“Hotel Alta, A Nice Bit of Respite”
Great room and restaurant. Secluded and quiet. Less than ten minutes from large mall and restaurants. George in the restaurant is very helpful. The owner Michael was there everyday and since he was from the U.S. he could give us heplful hints. I really enjoyed it.
“Hit and Miss”
We stayed at the Alta the first and last night of our vacation. The first night was great. We had a lovely basic room with a view. The hotel is very beautiful and the rooms have wonderful balconies. The hotel looks like a castle on the inside. We had dinner at the hotel that night. It was just OK, but extremely over-priced. We also had to eat in an upstairs room due to a special event in the main restaurant. The woman at the front desk is very nice and helpful. The last night we stayed there, I liked it a lot less. The room wasn't nearly as nice or clean. There was an unclean class left on the bathroom counter as if someone had been in there earlier and taken a drink - it made me wonder if our room had really been cleaned properly. We had a top floor room which was really noisy because of the street and no view. We woke up at 5:30am because of road construction. Get a room on a lower floor they are much better. This room also had a sofa which is a bad idea - it was so gross and moist. I'm sure it is just because of the rainy season, but nothing upholstered dries out. It was a big room, but just not nearly as nice as the other one - more run down. The breakfast is small and light, but the main restaurant is beautiful. I would recommend the hotel because it is very pretty, but next time I would stay closer to the airport. We only wanted to stay somewhere before or after our flights.
“Chic Hotel Very Impressed”
Although this was not a business or leisure trip. I was very happy with this hotel I am (SPG)Starwoods member and I love their hotels. The location is great, easy access to the freeways close to shopping and restaurants. I would highly recommend this brand of hotel.
“Good value for money”
Great view over looking San Jose. Up town and trendy area of San Jose. Expensive but nice resturant.
“Tranquility Be Thy Name”
Soft colors mixed with stone. A balcony overlooking greenery with gentle breezes. Birds singing a languid pool. Good food with a sunset at times and service that made you feel like a "very special guest". As I said, tranquility to rest up relaxed and ready to go home. Thank you one and all. I am so glad my friends the Tomlinsons, invited me along.
