Cute boutique hotel - no pool

Posted 24-Mar-2014
Pros: Nice lounge area outside for breakfast or watching the lights of San Jose.
Cons: A pool would have been nice. Not much to do in the area,
Location: A safer alternative to San Jose. 15 minute walk to restaurants or an animal refugee.
The rooms were nicely furnished and made you feel like you were in a spa. They prepared a nice fresh breakfast in the morning and there was a coffee maker, iron and refrigerator in the room.

Great B&B with fabulous owners

This is a charming bed and breakfast with really wonderful views of the city. Peaceful, relaxing terrace for breakfast. Rooms are clean, comfortable and unique. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful in arranging whatever you might want to do and giving local advice.

Great stay.

Pros: Room very spacious. Delicious local breakfast (Costa Rica) Quality of the bed Kindness of the owner.
Cons: Nothing special. They are very professional
Location: The location is really nice. About 20 minutes from San Jose downtown. (with the traffic it can last a bit more). It's a quite place.
"Very good experience with our family (5). Host very welcome and helpful. Nice place. We had a family room (5) : spacious. The quality of the bed is excellent. The vue of San Jose and some volcano from the terrace is gorgeous. The "costa rica breakfast" was more than yummy. Definitely the place to stay while visiting CR."

My wife and I have travelled to many places in this old world but we have never been treated as well as we were at the Out Of Bounds Hotel. Mateo and Miranda go out of their way [literally] to make your stay a memorable one. For example; one morning during our stay of 6 days, we were waiting for a bus across the street from the hotel. Being old folks, we don't stand in one spot for long periods of time very well, so we were getting very uncomfortable. Suddenly a car pulls up next to us and Mateo says, "jump in". We did and he took us to our destination out of the goodness of his heart. The breakfasts were incredible and served at your room or up on the second floor balcony over looking the entire San Jose area. We highly recommend the Out Of Bounds to anyone looking for outstanding service, a fantastic view and great food for breakfast.

Nice hotel, safe, and close to everything.

Pros: The owners are really nice people and helpful. For me the location was good for where I needed to go.
Cons: They don't have safes, but was allowed to put my camera in the office safe.
I enjoyed this hotel and it was priced right. The owner's are friendly and helpful, the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The shower head was great with plenty of warm water without the temperature fluctuating. The sink was pedestal but had a small shelf attached to the wall above it, and a little rack against the wall, for all one's "stuff". The lighting in the bathroom was not conducive to putting on makeup, but I used the bedroom mirror which was a little better. The breakfast, if you get the gallo pinto and eggs, is excellent. I didn't care for the cereal - dried fruit too hard. I took a cab to Walmart for $4, I think. The Multiplaza is about the same. I ate across the street at the Taj Mahal, which was very good. I also walked the "800 meters" to the Paco center where there were other restaurants, as well, and shops. [Be careful when walking especially the hotel side of the street. There is a hole, maybe 2 feet in diameter (I can't remember exactly) and it is about a 4 foot drop to a drainage system.] It's not a fancy hotel, but for the price I think it's a bargain. I enjoyed my stay (felt very safe - I was by myself) and wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend to a friend. The owners are great!
