Great Stay at Hotel Presidente, Costa Rica

Posted 17-Aug-2014
Pros: Close to Museums and market. Cleanliness. Comfortable. Staff very very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Explain its location and how to get to better on the hotel description.
Location: Hard to find. Hard to Park Walking distance to main attractions and museums.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Presidente Costa Rica. It is very hard to find the Hotel. Our GPS did not find it and when we asked people the directions were very confusing. They said go 100 meters, that meant 1 block but on the streets that are only one way traffic it is was hard to find it. We had to park 1 block away in a public parking lot then walk on a street that is for pedestrians only. Once we got to the hotel the staff were incredible helpful and nice. One person escorted us to our car so we did not get lost again finding the hotel parking garage. The checking in was easy and we had a surprised upgrade to a suite. This was on the 4th floor, very clean and comfortable and quiet. It has a nice jacuzzi in the middle of the spacious room. Hotel is under construction but did not bothered us. The buffet breakfast was included. It was great with fresh fruit and the cafe con leche was delicious. Try the pineapple jelly. You will love it. This hotel has an access to a casino on the 2nd floor so you never have to walk outside to get to it. It is situated in the heart of downtown San Jose, in the middle of busy streets full of people selling stuff. Just walking distance to Barrio Chino and The jade museum and Mercado de artesanias. Overall stay was very good.

Nice hotel, not so nice neighborhood

Posted 11-Aug-2014
Good location right in the middle of the city, close to the arts and craft market and museums. That said, the surroundings look really dodgy and commercial at first! But the newly renovated inside is really lovely. Also, the breakfast was very good. Would stay here again.

Lovely hotel in centre of San Jose, helpful staff

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: Breakfast, Staff, Location, Everything
Location: Right in central downtown. Could not have picked a better location. Can easily walk to all the main sights in town.
This hotel is right in the centre of San Jose so it's really easy to get around to see all the sights in downtown. The hotel itself is very nice and the breakfast that's included in the room rate is amazing: fruits, yoghurts, juice, cheeses, hams, pastries, waffles, hot food, and they can make pancakes and omlettes fresh to order. The staff are helpful and friendly. We stayed here on 2 separate occasions and the second time we were randomly upgraded to a suite! Only downside to the rooms is that there is no fridge, but no big deal. Generally San Jose is not the safest place at night but the location of the hotel meant that there are restaurants and fast food places right next door so you don't have to go far at night. After 9pm to 10pm you should get a taxi if you are going further out.

Hotel is nice and modern well located. It is near eeverything. A lot of restaurants near by. Hotel did include breakfast. Breakfast was ok nothing to brag about but it did the job. I had room 420 which was very modern. Jorge from the front desk was very helpful and allowed me to check in early. Highly recommended.

This hotel is conveniently located near everything

Pros: The hotel is really cleaning and the staff are respectful and friendly.
Cons: They could put a coffee maker on front desk area.
Location: Perfect location, you can enjoy many restaurant close to hotel, Theaters, Museums etc.
The hotel is newly renovated, centrally located and clean. For me the best thing about the hotel are the staff, they strive to make the customer is satisfied and enjoy your stay in San Jose. They are aware of everything we need, are very respectful, friendly and the next day in the hotel you have the impression that you know them always. For me the best thing about the Hotel President is their customer care staff.

Great staff and breakfast; good location.

Posted 06-Jun-2014
Pros: See above! Location, professionalism and a great breakfast!
Cons: Hotels should inform clients of construction schedule. The past two hotels we have stayed at were undergoing noisy renovation/construction.
Location: Great location. Within walking distance of national landmarks, museums, central market (a real Tico experience!) and everything else.
Superb service from the staff at all levels (including kitchen staff). Our daughter required medical services at 5am the first night we were there. Hotel staff brought the EMS staff to us at 5:30am!. When their care did not result in the desired outcome 8 hours later, the Hotel arranged for an MD-house call. Helbert and Jorge did an outstanding job as translators and facilitated the entire process without a hitch. The manager was made aware of the events by the next morning and made us feel very much taken care of. Thanks to them all, including Dr. Oscar! The kitchen staff each morning went out of their way and fulfilled our smoothie and linzano sauce cravings! The only negative? Ongoing construction related activity. Loud jackhammers made sleep difficult while our daughter was recuperating.
