Some Problems

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEMS
Couldn't connect their computer to their printer to print boarding passes. Noisy due to construction. Entrance very small and hard to find even though the building itself was well marked.

Beautiful hotel. good breakfast

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Location: Convenient location on main shopping avenue. Short walk to museums. But fyi it's also very close to the red light district.
The hotel entrance is a little hard to find from the street while driving. The free breakfast was surprisingly awesome, fresh buffet and an omelet station. Staff was very friendly.

Toppen hotell mitt i city.

Posted 22-Feb-2015

Surprising value for only a few hours stay

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Pros: Free parking, location, complimentary mail service
Location: Avenida Central - pedestrian only street
We checked in at 1pm today and left by 7pm due to a mixup with our departing flight time. The hotel was a bit hard to find initially (it is on the SE corner of Calle 7 and Avenida Central). My husband stayed in the car while I ran in to inquire about parking (it is on the west side of Calle 7 marked private lot across the street from a side entrance to the hotel). It is gated with access via a guard. We were pleasantly surprised to find out we were upgraded to a very large suite (#402). It was clean, and we used it only for a short nap and a shower before heading to the airport. The hotel location is centrally located on the pedestrian only street of Avenida Central and everything is a short walk away. After unsuccessfully looking for stamps and a post office during our afternoon, we were again very happy to find out the hotel has a complimentary postal service for small mail and postcards! Overall... great service, nice room, free parking, prime location for $100/night was very good value considering we did not even spend the night.

Good hotel in center of town on walking plaza

Posted 05-Feb-2015
Pros: very centrally located in San Jose and close to everything. Great tours arranged by helpful concierge staff.
Cons: Complete the present remodeling soon so the day time noise goes away
Location: Very close to Museum, National Theatre and other attractions. A lot of tours (day trips) are available and Costa Rica is an awesome country
I have stayed at the Presidente before and always enjoyed it. I have mixed feelings about this stay. The hotel staff was great as always, very helpful, rooms clean and nice. The two issues I had on this stay was, first, the hotel was going through renovation, therefore, from about 7am to about 5pm, there was a lot of construction concrete drilling sounds. I had to leave the room on many occasions. The second issue was the speed of the internet. While I had a connection, the speed was horribly slow, frequently going off-line. The summary of it was I could attend to any work and I had to go to an internet place and pay to connect (which was a big inconvenience). I assume this was related to the construction and could be an easy fix once it is all done. This could be one of San Jose's best hotels once it is finished. I wish Expedia had a way to let people know when such temporary issues are at hotels. I am recommending this hotel as I know they are great, not sure what to do with the temporary construction situation.

Central location but do you need wifi?

Posted 25-Jan-2015
Pros: Central downtown location near places to eat and museums.
Cons: Reliable wifi
Location: Near Museums
Happy with everything about this hotel except hat the wifi did not work. Too many times you stay at a hotel which claims to have wifi in all rooms but when you stay there strangely the wifi is not working. Is it really a temporary problem or are they not telling the truth? Who knows?
