Last Night in Costa Rica

Posted 30-Jun-2015
Pros: I personally liked the little walled in patio with a fountain that came with our room. Very nice touch.
Cons: If you just came from a beach town and were used to eating delicious fresh whole fried snapper I wouldn't recommend ordering it from the restaurant.
Location: We went to an awesome Cuban bar down the street with live music. It only took us about 25min to drive the airport.
We stayed at Hotel Grano de Oro for the last night of our week long vacation in Costa Rica. It was just the right amount of luxury we were looking for after spending many nights in jungles and in beach towns. We were also pleasantly surprised when we arrived because they had upgraded our room free of charge. We also ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant which was great.

Last stop out of Costa Rica

Posted 14-Jun-2015
Pros: Cool boutique vide and furnishings. Hotel staff was very attentive and friendly.
Cons: The restaurant food was good not great. For the publicity given to the restaurant I think they need to work on seasoning of their food.
This is a great boutique hotel in the middle of San Jose. Staff was great and we received an upgrade with our room. The restaurant was great looking inside. The service was good but not great. The food was a little underwhelming considering the ratings. Overall is was a good experience. The hotel gift shop has some very nice items from Costa Rica and was not overpriced. I would recommend the hotel for a stay!

Charming, lovely patio outside of room.

Quick stay as off to the airport in early AM. Restaurant was a bit stuffy for our tastes. Charming place, enjoyed learning the history. Room was very comfortable, enjoyed the French windows open onto the courtyard while raining, very cozy and welcoming.

Beautiful hotel in San Jose

Posted 04-Jun-2015
Pros: Location, amenities, restaurant, cleanliness, strong wifi
Cons: Front desk staff
Location: Markets, restaurants, museums
Beautiful hotel in San Jose, walking distance to great restaurants and the marketplace. The hotel facilities and restaurant were excellent. I did not have a great experience with the hotel staff. I booked a room big enough to accommodate my family and check-in was not a smooth process at all. I thought the front desk staff could have been more accommodating and less argumentative.

A Diamond in the Rough

Posted 31-May-2015
Pros: Restaurant, character of the rooms and professionalism of staff
Cons: Additional parking & development of the surrounding buildings.
Location: I would stick to the hotel unless you are going to the theatre in San Jose.
The hotel is very comfortable and full of character. Each room has different decor and the whole hotel embodies a pleasant Spanish colonialism theme. The restaurant service and quality of the food is exceptional. The jacuzzi's on the terrace are a must stop for some private relaxation. Parking is limited at the hotel and the surrounding location is impoverished.

Beautiful, stylish; perfect start to our honeymoon

Posted 19-May-2015
Pros: Helpful yet non-fussy nature of staff. Beautiful surroundings
Cons: Nothing - its basically perfect
Location: Very convenient for airport (30 minutes by bus/taxi) and downtown San Jose (10 minutes walk, bus stop 1 minute away)
Arrived at hotel 9pm after long pair of flights from UK. We were greeted with chilled fruit juice at reception and a spread of complimentary tropical fruit awaited us in our room, with private courtyard and water fountain! We then headed up to the hot tubs in the roof garden... A classy relaxing start to our honeymoon.
