“good location,good for its cost.”

Good location ,quiet place and very good service with personnel,restaurant service good and very reasonable prize.good for the cost per night. if you want to be close to casinos this is the place. enjoyed.appeared to be safe at night,bank across the street for money exchange, farmacy around the corner,tipical souvenirs shops 2 blocks away more less.

“Next time I stay in San Jose, I'm looking at this hotel first.”

Had a very good stay at the Hotel Europa. Rate was very competitive, and they let me keep the same rate when I extended my stay. Helpful and friendly staff. Rooms and furniture were rather old and worn, but clean and comfortable. Nice, big TV screen in my room. Good A/C. WiFi worked most of the time, and the connection was fast. Hot water was scarce in the early morning, but worked the rest of the time. Pool was warm and good for tanning in the early afternoon. Free breakfast was a nice perk, though the quality of the food at the restaurant left a lot to be desired. Very convenient location in the middle of San Jose. Not the safest neighborhood, but I always felt safe in the hotel. I'd definitely stay here again.

“Friendly people.”

We are satisfied wiith the friendly reception, with the room clenliness and hotel location. For smookers the rooms are not the best quallity. They reserve not very good rooms for smookers. But anyway, we are satisfied.

“Good value”

Once probably a four star that with age has slipped to three. Retains elements of its past character but its age definitely shows as well. Value for those who appreciate the quirkiness of the local culture. Not for those use to the more modern amenities found in many North American 3 star hotels.

“Local hotel suited to local tastes”

Older hotel that has seen better days but still retains some character. Not up to some Northern standards but it has a certain latino charm that some might appreciate considering the value offered.

“Unpleasant View Inside and Out”

The hotel itself is old and not at all updated. It looked like the toilet paper holder was ripped out of the wall, the bedspreads were ugly, there was no clock and everything looked so sad and dingy. The outside of the hotel wasn't much better. Some told us to be careful leaving the hotel because of theft. We did not feel safe.

“okay for price/location”

stayed there for one night after we arrived in san jose. after reading other reviews, it was about what we expected: nothing fancy, but okay for the price.

“You get what you pay for”

This hotel was okay and a low price. Description had given me high expectations - memory foam mattre, triple sheets, that were not met. But location was convenient and price low. Regarding the free breakfast - I had the same typical menu elsewhere and it tasted better than here. Dinner was poor and expensive on the first night. On my last night, I walked a few blocks and had a much better meal for only a small increase in price.

Area recommendations

Stay in downtown for 1 or 2 nights to be close to museums and National Theater. After that, why be in San Jose - get out of town into the beautiful countryside unless you are here on business. If you have an expense account, stay in a nicer place.
