“Functional, though nothing special”
When I first arrived I was given a room unlike what I paid for, but with a 30 minute wait the problem was solved. Front desk has no smiles for customers, but was not impolite. WIFI was advertised but didn't seem to exist, however a cable was provided and the internet speed was satisfactory. Close to cross country bus stations, shopping, etc. Suggest not going too far west to avoid being robbed. Some good views of the city from a corner suite, and fairly quiet.
“San Jose Visit”
Hotel is nice, service was fast when we needed towels and had problem with TV. However the area is very busy with locals and we did not see many tourists walking around just boarding busses to travel away from the city. If you dont have to be in San Jose there are many nice places outside of the city. Food in hotel too expansive and when you walk out to find food you feel very unsafe despite the many police guys on the streets. Do not walk around after dark!!! Do not trave during the rainy season. It really is very rainy :). We ended up taking tours away from san jose.
“Enjoyed our stay”
Good buffet breakfast for $15 pp, consider this when deciding on rates to include breakfast in plan or not.
“oasis”
an oasis in hell
“Couldn't be a better around”
First time in San Jose, Costa Rica. Hotel is one of the best in area, felt safe and secure and would reccomend this place any and all of of american friends. As one the previous posters mentioned the guest fee is for you to bring a person up to your room for certain type of "service" to have done to you, it will be apparent to you what I mean when you enjoy the nightlife of san jose.
“Holiday Inn Aurola”
Very nice hotel in decent location of san Jose. restaurants very good as well. Had 1 issue regarding guest policy in room that I discussed withy manager but they refused to yield despite thye fact I received contrary information online before I travelled.
“Outstanding service- comfortable room- modern and clean hotel.”
Stayed here at the beginning and end of my trip to Costa Rica. Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. Check in and check out was very quick and easy. Hotel was clean, colorful, and modern. My room was very comfortable- loved the bed and the pillows. A/C system was also very nice. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
“good hotel. good location!!”
we stayed 2 nights in this hotel. the hotel is o.k but the rooms are not big and not so modern. the location is perfect if you want to be in the center of san jose the only thing that was not so great was the breakfast.
“Great Hotel”
Very good hotel with great amenities. This was an unexpected 'find' in downtown San Jose Costa Rica. The staff and property were excellent.
“Very nice stay”
We stayed an entire week here. This is the hotel my parents stayed in 19 years ago for our wedding. It is still just as nice as it was then. We have family in CR and based here for visiting them. The hotel is very nice, very clean and the service is great. Valet parking, a gym and swimming pool, all of which we used. Nice bar, but the complimentary "cocktail" is actually non-alcoholic. We did not eat at the restaurants, as we know the city and went out for authentic Costa Rican food at much lower prices. Maid service slightly inconsistent (different maids do things differently, I am guessing), but not on anything important. Someone also comes around later in the day to check that you have everything that you need. If you are not in, she comes and does a turn-down service and leaves chocolates on your pillow. I assume that most of the staff speaks English, but we speak Spanish so I am not sure about everyone. Mini-bar is OK, we did not indulge, but did use the fridge. The area around the hotel has gone down hill in 19 years, especially at night. Parque Morazan is directly across the street and is quite pretty, even at night, but it seems to be in the middle of the red-light district. There are a LOT of police around, so we felt OK, but there were prostitutes on the corner and all the bars close by seem to be pick-up joints for sex tourism. It was not comfortable.
