“Retreat in Escazu”
In the busy neighborhood of Excazu near San Jose, is the Beacon Hotel. From the street you would never know that such a nice retreat existed. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the patio is the perfect start to the day. The only downside was the restaurant The Muse - it was very expensive, and the food was not all that good. I believe they are trying to be too fancy. I plan to return to Costa Rica soon, and will stay at The Beacon when I do.
“Excellent choice-would definately go back”
People were polite, willing to help and very beautiful. Service was excellent. Maids were fantastic. Room was terrific. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Restaurant had great food. Continental breakfast was a good perc. Security was adequate. Didn't try pool but was small 4 feet plus jacuzzi. Massage center looked adequate. Business center 2 computers but no printer. WIFI everywhere was excellent. Plama tv was fine. The surroundings were picturesque garden. Dining areas very relaxing and and view was next to gardens. I would recommend to any visiting American and would definatel go back myself.
“Nice boutique hotel”
We only stayed at this hotel 1 night while we waited for our flight to Drake Bay. The hotel is a nice boutique hotel and the hotel restaurant was also good (although a little on the expensive side). The only issue we had was with the bathroom. For a newish hotel, we were surprised by the amount of mildew in the shower. If not for that, we would have given this hotel 5 stars.
“Can't wait to return to costa rica”
Hotel was amazing staff was great restaurant was top notch material great experience all the way around
“Beacon”
Very nice. elegant hotel, good food & service, not the best neighborhood.
“Perfect for Working or Vacation”
Hotels in the business core were twice the price. The Beacon is set in a residential community, and only a 3 dollar taxi ride to the business center, multiplaza. The internet was very strong and the abiility to call US/CAN free of charge was great. The rooms are wonderful, the beds are very comfortable.and they have the best hotel housecoat I have had. This hotel had everything I needed for business and all the things that make a stay in any location an unexpected delight.
“Baecon Hotel”
Neighborhood and Hotel quality don't mix. The neigborhood although very safe does not offer the best views of the city but the Hotel staff was exceptional. The restaurant was excellent and the staff is willing to provide you with Guided Tours, maps and directions to any place you want to visit, they are very curteous and accomodating. I would not recommend this hotel for long stays in San Jose but as a layover to go in and out it is an excellent choice.
“A little expensive but beautiful and comfortable”
Architecture in this hotel was fantastic - great atmosphere and not too big. Unique pools in the common area in a small tropical garden. Some of the best food in town. Rooms were beautiful and comfortable (check out their pillow menu!). It was more than I expected to pay for a hotel, but I soon found out that Costa Rica in general is quite expensive. The location was good in that we didn't hear any traffic, but don't expect to be able to walk to many places worth visiting. Our only negative experience was some maintenance at 7am just outside our door. The rooms aren't too sound proof and if people were talking in the common area it was quite loud in the rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Chefs are quite talented.
“Not recommended”
We were satisfied with the hotel itself, the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable to sleep in, and the food was delicious (four star hotel price rate). Some of the issues we had included: In our room the AC did not work very well. The other disappointing factors were mostly the town it was in. Escazu, Costa Rica is not a place to relax or stroll through. Now, the reason why I bring that up, is because 1) you would not expect a 4 star hotel in that area; and 2) if you are spending the entire day in your room you will have to deal with the noisy cars that pass by until 3 AM. We only spent one night at the hotel, and continued traveling Costa Rica, next time I have to stay somewhere overnight, I rather spent it actually in San Jose.
“Loved it!!”
Excellent service in every department! Beautiful motel-very clean and well kept upt.
