Great hotel, shame about the guy on reception

Had a suite here for a really cheap price through Expedia - amazing, especially for a capital city. Hotel has a pool, a good restaurant which is not too expensive for Costa Rica, and the breakfast was great with lots of options. The day staff were nice when I spoke to them but the guy on reception in the evening was not good and unfortunately I had to speak to him most. At first I thought he may have been busy and a bit stressed but by the 3rd night of the same attitude I think he was just a bit rude. That was the only thing that was disappointing about an otherwise great place.

Cons: The older rooms could be upgraded
Only good experiences at this hotel. They have a newly build part with very nice rooms. In the bit part that is a little bit older, there is a couple of family doublerooms (1 king + 2 single) which was great for my family of 5. These familyrooms can only be booked by calling the hotel.

Great hotel for a good price

Cons: Better internet
We stayed here for one night.After reading the reviews I did not know what to expect..The lobby was clean and the restaurant just past the lobby was also very clean and spacious. Upon entering the room I was shocked..It was a suite, not just a room..Everything was spotless..The only small issue I had was the internet service..At times, worked great, other times nothing..

I am very pleased with my stay in the Hotel Authentic, my rate is excellent! Its geographical position is optimal, its proximity to the supermarket, banks, airport and the city center. asignarion I recently remodeled a room, which was great, comfortable bed, spotless bathroom and cleaning. The feed was excellent with welcome cocktail, varied breakfast for everyone, the executive lunch and à la carte exceptional fair prices. Overall everything was great, and not to mention the special and personalized service that will offer all employees from different departments. In short I felt very satisfied during my stay certainly volvere to staying there and recommend it to all my friends.

Pros: The room was very large and well decorated.
Cons: On my return to San Jose the room I was given was very small and plain.
The room I stayed in for my first two nights was very nice. Hotel staff was very helpful in recovering my lost luggage from airline.

Horrible Experience!

When we first arrived to the hotel, the receptionist was almost irritated by having to check us in. She also did not seem pleased to have to set us up for the airport shuttle. We had dinner at the nice hotel restaurant, and when we asked for our check both waiters said they'd bring it, but after waiting about 20 minutes we had to walk up to the bar to get it (they thought we were going to leave without paying, so they then rushed to get us the bill.) Now for the room...first off, the clock was not even set to any time, instead it flashed 12:00 and it did not have an alarm. The shower head sprayed water in every direction soaking the ceiling and the bathroom floor as it somehow leaked out of the shower door. We did not have a washcloth. The towels are extremely old and rough. The hair dryer was broken. We somehow received an instant rash all over our back (either from the water, towels, body wash, or nasty sheets). The sheets did not smell clean and looked extremely old. When we asked for new ones, we had to wait an extremely long time to receive them. And once we did receive we had to put them on ourselves! (For the amount of money we paid to stay at this hotel, we expected much better service.) The pillows were also disgusting; they looked 20 years old, were clumpy and had a yellow-brown color. The next morning seemed fine until we arrived at the airport via the "airport shuttle" we requested the night before. As we tipped him, he then said it will be $20! even though the hotel advertised airport shuttle...which means no cost aka free. We did not have $20 to pay the driver, so we called the hotel and got in a heated discussion with the receptionist. He kept trying to tell me that I asked for a taxi even though he was not the one who helped me the night before. After about ten minutes of being rudely spoken to, he finally agreed he would pay for it. We would not recommend this hotel.
