We loved this hotel and the location. Upon checking in we were given complimentary steel water bottles, two passes for the cable bar, and two passes for a bike rental These were a pleasant surprise and we still use our water bottles all the time! The concierge was helpful and we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. All you can ask for in a hotel room!

Property was under construction. Workers were picketing out front. Hotel seemed aged. Temperature in public areas was cold. Spa was closed. Staff was helpful and attentive. Views were good. Room service was good. Breakfast buffet was good, but an omelette bar would have been better. Out of stock in aluminum water containers to reduce plastic bottles. Pricing seemed a bit high. Surrounding area was so-so compared to previous visits.

What a wonderful experience! The St. Francis is an historic property centrally located in Union Square with super easy access to public transportation (to and from the airports), shopping, sightseeing, restaurants in every price range, and SF's famous cable cars. Our stay included a $25 daily food and beverage credit; bike rentals; 2 cable car tickets; and free bottled water or free refillable stainless steel water bottles. The staff is gracious and very helpful - from check in to check out! Highly recommended!

I expected more about this property. My check in process was terrible, I got a different room than the one I reserved and late afternoon. I have the feeling that if you reserve by Expedia you don´t have the same priority. They did not clean my room until I asked them. Windows were terribly unclean. Additional charges are not clear when you book. Location is convenient.

We stayed for 5 nights. In our first day we were put in a small clean Older room that didn’t have a view of anything except a brick wall. Lucky the A/C went ou m out and we had to change rooms

Lived in SF for over 44 years. Staycation at this magnificent hotel many times over the years. Property is undergoing major renovations but nevertheless the staff was helpful as always and really didn’t mind the small inconvenience due to the construction. The discount I received because of the work made it a sensational deal. Literally less than half of what I expected to pay. Union Square is having its issues with so many stores boarded up. However, I believe that change is always difficult and that people are way over reacting. Long live The St. Francis and long live San Francisco. Wherever I am in the world, this will always be HOME!
