“Nice trip”
Loved the location, great for shopping!!
“Nice Union Square hotel”
We stayed just one night over the Thanksgiving weekend. We were in the old part of the hotel, but room was clean and we could see Union square from room 814. Location couldn't be better, close to shopping, restaurant, and even temporary ice ring. We forgot our daughter stroller, but they offer a complementary one. If you can get a good price, definitely recommended.
“Loved it!”
Thanksgiving Dinner was terrific. We had excellent service throughout our stay. Gym access should be free to guests though.
“Will stay again”
It was a wonderful stay. The room was imaculate and smelled fresh, though there was some pealing paint in the bath. The view was fantastic. The hotel was decked in holiday attire, which put me in a good mood. The neighborhood was filled with restaraunts and shopping...and regretfully homeless. Three blocks away is the biggest soup kitchen in San Fran. A sad statement of America today. The Westin is also seperated from many of the traditional tourist locations (Fisherman's Wharf, Lombard St, Coit Tower) by what seemed like Mt. Everest to someone who is more familiar with the flat East coast cities. I enjoyed the history of the hotel...home of Fatty Arbuckle's downfall, an attempt on Gerald Ford's life, home of presidents and queens. A curious thing I've noted about hotels...the more expensive they are the less free commonalities you get. I've stayed at cut rate hotels and have gotten free sewing kits and internet. Here I had to ask for the kit (it was free though), but intenet was $20 for 10 minutes. Wow! You'd think they could wi-fi the whole place for the rates they charge. I shouldn't paint a bad picture, though. When I return to San Fran I will definitely stay here again.
“Excellent Stay!”
Beautiful hotel. Right in the center of the city. Literally across the street from Union Square. Trolley and tours buses were feet away...very convenient. Friendly staff
“Probably will stay their every time we go to S.F.”
Love this hotel. A little more detail to cleaning in room. Like shower grout. The mirrors, and baseboards. A hotel with that history, it's a landmark, should be sparking clean. Room 2795, awesome view.
“Location...Location...”
Love the location! Expensive parking but worth it! But the airconditioning is not cold enough first night and i had to complain about it, the woman who took my call said she will send someone but we fell asleep and no one came, the next day i called again, someone came in fast and said that the filer of the aircon is so dirty so no air is coming in. I told frontdesk and they gave me a free breakfast that i dont really care at all.
“traveler from new york”
My room was cramped, loud, hot, and it faced an alleyway. The manager refused to let me out of the 2nd night of my two-night reservation. The place is like a bad Stephen King movie. Stay away.
“Good location, but that's it.”
Stayed in the older of the two wings and was not happy with the stay. I'm surprised that it's operated under the Westin name. It really is a fantastic location, but the thin walls and musty smell was enough to put me off of this place. I'll look for another location on my next visit to San Francisco.
“Excellent staff, immediate response to my needs”
Hotel staff is extremely professional and helpful. Walked in and requested rooms after leaving our original booked "boutique hotel" around the corner which had no air conditioning. Staff accomodated us right away on a busy week. The last night we needed was sold out. Searched Expedia - got the room and Westin staff honored lower price. Stayed 3 nights. Bed was excellent in new tower. Location excellent! Oak Rm Restaurant - excellent food and service! Went to wine country- decided to return to city. Searched Expedia again - great rate! Booked 3 more nights. Original room in older section of hotel had terrible bed and hallway smelled musty. Requested to be moved to newer tower after first nigt was immediately granted by Liz. She even gave us a larger room and sent bellman up to help move us within 15 minutes of phone call. Jeff at concierge desk is superb! Will definately return!
