“Great location”
The location of this hotel is fantastic! The only downside was being able to hear the noise from the hall and outside. The room need a lot more attention in regards to maintance, but when you only sleep there it is fine
“San Fran Trip Nov 2011”
If you all you need is a place to sleep and shower that's close to the downtown area. Then this is the hotel for you. Some of the rooms don't have tables for you to do your work/eat on, if you opt to bring food back to the hotel. Bottom line is the hotel is really sold for its location, not its amenities.
“A good place to stay, but nothing special”
It is a really good place to stay if you want to visit SF. Nothing special. The hotel is old, but looks very good and clean. The room was very small, but for me that was enough. I think that this hotel is not very good place to stay with kids.
“Clean, charming, perfect for my visit”
Business travel for me and vacation for my husband. The Powell is the perfect location vor convenience. Easy access to the financial district, shopping, and public transportation. BART entrance right at the door. The hotel is great, clean with 20th century charm. No air conditioning but you do not need it in San Francisco. I would stay there again.
“STAFF WAS VERY GOOD.”
The Powell was a very nice 3 star hotel. It was build in 1908 but was clean and convenient. Many great places to eat. Only a short walk to Chinatown.
“BAD CHOICE”
EXCEPT THE LOCATION
“scotch and other stuff”
It was a little noisy around 2-3AM, when the "drunks" returned and the restaurant/bar emptied their glassware. Other than that, it was not a bad place and it was a LOT cheaper than the hotel across the street, by far. ANd, its San Francisco. Fire Engines go by often and they have dumpsters at other places. Live with it.
“Hotel Powell”
The hotel, built in 1908, is like a step back in time but with modern comforts.
“Would never stay there again!!!”
My first trip to San Francisco, I was expecting air conditioning and room service the Powell Hotel had neither, needless to say i was very disappointed!!!
“LOCATION AND FUN”
our room overlooking the the turnaround of the cable car and there is always someone playing musical instrument so we had beautiful clarinet music to wake us up , he plays pretty well, best location for Bloomingdales, Macys and etc,For the price we paid we are more than satisfied, receptionist "Jonathan" very helpful and friendly, parking a bit pricy but at 32 a day but good cheap public transport to get around for 21 dollars for 3 days
