“Fine for 2 nights max”
While the overall condition of the hotel is excellent, the rooms themselves are tiny and have virtually no storage. Our suitcases and clothes had to be crammed into very limited floor space around the edge of the bed, meaning there was no space left to walk around the bed. Fine for a night or two, but couldn't have stayed there longer. Personally I wasn't a fan of the shared bathrooms either - the ladies was ok but my husband said the men's toilet floors were awash with wee throughout the nights. Our room window opened onto an alleyway that the restaurant next door backed onto and the noise was horrendous. One night it sounded as though someone was using a pneumatic drill and we got no sleep at all. There is no air con and our room was unbearably hot, even though outside temperatures were mild. The free muffins and coffee for breakfast were a bonus. The hotel location is excellent. Staff were friendly but we were not convinced of their competence - we asked advice on airport travel and they booked us a shuttle service. When we went to confirm the next day, the shuttle had no record of our booking (even though we had paid) and told us they couldn't pick us up as President Obama was in town and the roads were shut. At this point we asked about public transport, and it emerged that there was a direct train service from the station right outside the hotel. Don't understand why this wasn't suggested to us in the first place, as it was easy and a fraction of the shuttle cost.
“Very convenient location”
Very convenient for the Moscone Conference Center, downtown shopping and BART. Nothing special about the rooms, but perfectly adequate and clean. The (one and only) elevator is slow.
“Enjoyed our stay”
Was a in a great area and easily accessible to BART and Muni - great central location in nice old hotel!
“Toilet and shower shared with other rooms”
The Mosser does not have toilets or showers in the room. They are available close by, and are clean, but not in the room, and are shared with others.
“Good hotel”
The hotel was very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful, except for my last night there where they seemed a bit short with me and also lacked a bottle opener for me to use, suggesting instead that I go buy one myself. Overall, I'd stay at this hotel again. The muffins and tea in the morning were a nice touch.
“Excellent Value, Excellent Service”
Our expereince with the Mosser was outstanding. The value for the hotel from Expedia was great. The service was even better. The rooms are small, but who goes to San Francisco to live in a hotel room? The rooms were well equipped and immaculately clean. I liked the modern style furnishings. The building itself is from the earlier part of the 20th century, but is in excellent condition. The free breakfast is great: good, solid coffee and the best (moist) muffins I have ever eaten. The nighborhood of the hotel is Union Square/SOMA, which in general is good, though some streets can be questionable after dark. In general, stay in crowds and on main streets after dark. Use common sense, and you'll be okay. Many of the eateries in the immediate vacinity are outrageously priced, but a 5 minute walk north or west will bring you to more affordable establishments. I highly recommend the Turkish place called something "Oasis" that is 3 blocks north on 4th. Chinatown is only about an 8 min. walk west (uphill), and one can find all manner of good and inexpensive food, as well as pretty much anything legal to sell. All said, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will stay at the Mosse anytime I am in San Francisco.
“Excellent value”
I occupied one of the rooms without bath but found the common toilets and bath in the hall to be a system that worked well. Although the hotel was well occupied I had no difficulty getting in when I wanted to, and others were available on other floors. The thing I missed most was a desk and chair in the room but, given its size and the price I paid, I could not complain. For the location, it was an excellent value and I was well pleased with my experience. I would go back.
“Great well located and inexpensive”
Perfect location, smallish rooms but adequate for the price.
“Make sure to ask for room with private bathroom.”
Very clean and very well maintained. Small rooms, of course, but very well done. We were there when temp. was moderate and it was comfortable. Not sure how it would be in the summer.
“Great for what i needed”
Perfect location. The room was small but quiet, warm and cozy. The shared bathroom lacked a sink... I would not go there with my sweetheart, nor share the room with anyone else, but overall it was perfect for what i was looking for (a practical and cheap place to spend a few nights in). I would certainly recommend this place, but only to people who have these very same needs and are not too fussy.
