“Pleasant Hotel, good Location”

Orchard Garden Hotel is just a few steps to the entry of China Town and within easy walking distance to the shopping area near Union Square and the Powell Street Trolley Car. It is quiet and well situated. Staff are helpful and polite. There are a variety of restaurants close by to suit any taste. Free internet is available in the room and if you need to print anything the business centre can be used for this purpose. The only thing that was a little annoying was that there were no facilities for doing laundry in the hotel and sending laundry out could prove a little expensive. The only other alternative was a laundry up the street which only takes $5 in quarters! All in all though, the hotel experience was a very positive one. Would definitely stay there again.

Getting around

I am a big fan of getting to know the local area by using public transport and walking around to see the sights. San Francisco is well known for its undulating streets, so make sure to pack some comfortable walking shoes because your legs will get a good work-out. Riding the Trolley Cars is a lot of fun but make sure that you get a day pass, that way you can ride as many times as you like in the 24 hous and it's better value than just getting two one-way tickets especially if you want to go to Fisherman's Wharf. You can also ride on the buses and trams as well using the day pass ticket. The only thing it doesn't cover is riding the BART, you need a separate ticket for that Just be prepared for queues waiting to ride the Powell St Trolley. Do it early. It's very touristy but a great ride!

“Love this Hotel”

This hotel is a hidden gem! It is super clean, the workers are extremely courteous and nice and the room is very very. It is also near Union Square and Chinatown which is a great location!

“go green, and enjoy!”

Super impressed with this eco friendly hotel...rooms are clean, comfortable, and lights are operated with your room key (they turn off when you leave). staff was super friendly and definitely knew me by sight at the end of the trip. Would recommend it to anyone!

“Good value for money”

Small room but neat and tidy. Good location for tourist. Staffs are all very friendly, informative nad helpful. A lot of good eating places nearby. Will definitely recommend R&G lounge but need to book on weekend if looking for a good, cheap and authentic Chinese food. If limited by time, will suggest do the hop on hop off bus tour around San Franscisco. There is a stop just across from the hotel.

Area recommendations

Will recommend Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge and Lambard Street. Fisherman Warf is good for seafood but otherwise a bit over-rated as tourist attractions. A good way to see San Fransisco is going on an open top hop on and hop off tour bus.

“Downtown location with character”

This place is a gem. Convenient downtown hotel recently completely renovated and energy efficient. Five blocks from BART station. Rooms are modern and comfortable. The smaller size of this hotel eliminates the impersonal nature of most downtown properties. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is a downtown hotel and in a high density, busy area. Best for travelers not dependent on their own personal vehicle. Hotel is a half block from Chinatown. Only downside is that this place will become known and supply / demand will kick in.

“Great location, great service”

I would recommend this hotel because of its great location - it is very easy to walk around the city to Union Square, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf. The rooms are nothing special - ours overlooked a dumpster - but the hotel is very clean and quiet and the service is very good.

“Truly pleased!!!”

What a wonderful surprise! A beautiful hotel. Wonderful bed and linens. The entire hotel was spotless and had everything that we needed. Stay here, you will not be disappointed. BTW it is California's first eco-friendly hotel inside and out. Easy walk to Market, Financial District, Chinatown and Union Square. It was a perfect!

“Great place to stay.”

“Great Boutique Property in Downtown San Fran”

This was a beautiful, recently remodeled property in an ideal location with great rates compared to nearby chains. The service was outstanding. What a great value and experience!
