“Location, Location, Location!”
Horrible motel. No ventilation. Dinky rooms. Scary people walking around the balcony, and the doors opening to the outside. But what a neighborhood! The best in SF for eating, shopping, people watching. I'd stay there again just to have the free parking. Can't beat the price, either.
“Yuck”
Noisy, run down and dirty.
“Basic but convenient and safe”
Motel Capri is located in a very nice and safe looking neighborhood. Not far from the Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate bridge and a few other attractions while it is quite a hike or ride to others, such as the Union Square. There was enough parking whenever we arrived and the room was quite clean. It was not large, but sufficient for 4 adults with there baggage. The motel itself was quiet, although it did happen that we were woken by some noise from the street. The staff were friendly and helpful. There were no major flaws overall, so if you are looking for a nice, safe and clean place for not the cheapest but reasonable price, Capri will be just fine.
“Too much street noise”
The rooms are small and no air. We had a room near the street and apparently the isn't much insulation. We heard noise from the room above us and kids running the halls after ten at night. Will not stay there again.
“Reasonable Value for the Money”
Liked the 50's ambiance -- lots of neon -- great torquoise bathroom! This was one of the lowest-priced motels we found in SF, and it's good value for the money. Well located between two busy streets, but generally doesn't suffer from the street noise. However, if some of the guests are noisy, it echoes around the courtyard of the building.
“"Ok, but expected better"”
Good location , but still a long walk to Fishermans Wharf & Pier 39 area. Our room was clean and we didn't mind the older styling of the room but it definately could have used some maintenanace (ie: new caulking and new grout in the bathroom and tub area). Some of the front desk staff do not speak english very well and are bad with giving directions. My only other complaint would be the noise made by some of the other guests at the motel late at night which could be heard in our room as the rooms are not very well insulated or sound proofed. Some sound proofing would be a plus since it didn't seem that some of the guests there had enough consideration of others to not yell across the parking lot or run back and forth on the walkways after mid-nite. Over-all we liked the motel (although a little pricey for the quality) and the surrounding area. Plenty of shops and restaurants with in walking distance and small grocery/liquor stores on every other corner. Muni-buses can take you about anywhere you want to go with several stops within 2 blocks of the motel. At the Motel Capri expect older styling with some minor flaws and you won't be disappointed except possibly by other guests.
“"Decent location, but..."”
The first night had extremely noisy guests. The coffee pot was dirty so we couldn't make in room coffee. When we came back at 2:15 pm, the room still had not been cleaned so we just asked for towels (not a full complement of them either). I thought there was supposed to be a hair dryer in the room, but there wasn't. I know this is San Francisco, but it definitely wasn't worth it.
“Pretty good would stay again.”
This hotel was in a really good area. We walked to union street where there is a lot of different eating places. We walked to fisherman's warf from here. It is also close to the bus line if you are not much of a walker. Like some of the reviews I read before, ear plugs are helpful because of the way the entire city is built it does echo there alot. Overall most of the other guests were friendly, with a few loud mouths. There was a domestic dispute and management was right on it, unfortunately my husband and I had to listen to the door slam quite a few times. Our bed was always made with fresh towels everyday when we returned. Some of the other rooms were a bit nicer and we didn't have a flat screen tv like I saw in the pictures. The internet generally worked great there and was free. Parking was limited, but in six nights we never didn't have somewhere to park when we did take the car out. They do have an elevator which is helpful getting luggage up. They watch carefully to make sure no one is smoking in the rooms and they do have cameras everywhere. They are supposed to be doing some remodling with the new management, so maybe it will be more up-to-date if we ever go back.
“Goood motel for the hearing impaired.”
The motel was very nice, clean, comfortable, and reaonable priced. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Location was good althought could have been alittle closer to the wharf attractions althogh you can walk there from the motel and still feel safe. The two bad things about the motel is the noise and the parking. Because the rooms have no air conditioning you hav to leave your window open for air circulation. Then any body walking by or standing outside you hear the whole converstion. Because of the area it amplifies the sounds. This in itself is not that bad but at midnight or later it is hard to sleep. Calls to the front desk got good results, as they came and asked for quiet of the noise makers. Air conditioners in the rooms would be nice and would make this a great place to stay. The oher bad thing was the parking it is a first come first park. If they are full you have to try and find parking on the street. he street parking is full with all the residents parking there. They rent out parkig spaces to locals during the day and if you come back to early like before ten pm you don't find a place to park. Other then that a good place to stay.
“Cheap, but you get what you pay for.”
A non-smoking hotel that allows smoking directly outside all of the rooms also allows that smoke to fill any room. No air conditioning or fans so you have to keep your windows open. The doors have about a 1 inch gap so noise and smoke get in easy. Noisy, squeaky doors, and noisy guests with no help from the front desk unless you make a stink about it.
