“Laurel Village's Best!”
I have stayed at Laurel Inn each time I have gone to visit my daughter. It's walking distance to shopping and quite a few nice little restaurants. Convenientently down the street from Pacific California Medical Center. Staff was very nice, and the hotel is very clean and comfortable. Nice beds and linens. I would highly recommend this hotel. located in a nice neighborhood, so you feel safe. It was Great!
“Friendly helpful staff, but an average property”
We chose this hotel based on solid reviews and the fact that it had secure parking at a reasonable rate. Our arrival was early but we were made welcome in spite of us trying to check in just as the rest of the hotel guests were checking out! The staff were very helpful throughout our stay. There was good information about local restaurants and our in-room compendium had excellent information. Our stay included continental breakfast which was a farce - a pastry, tea or coffee and juice. There is a permanent supply of tea and coffee in reception, as well as lemonade and cookies in the afternoon. Our rooms were very noisy with early morning street traffic. There was no noise insulation - so also heard voices, footsteps etc. The rooms are tastefully furnished, but the building is old and basic. The paintwork is sloppy and the fitout of poor quality. There was no air conditioning in our rooms - and being in full afternoon sun they were very hot. They only had fans for cooling. Bedlinens and towels were white and good quality. Cleaning however was not first class. The hotel is about 30 minutes from downtown on excellent bus service. Taxis are about $15 to North Beach. Very nice local area. Based on noisiness, no airconditioning and the farcical breakfast on offer I would probably not stay here again or recommend it to friends. Room Tip: Always ask for a room on the east side of the hotel.
“Not impressed”
The $22 per day for parking was excessive, other hotels we have stayed in in this city have not charged for parking at all. The charge for local calls at $.75 is nonsense as no other hotel we have stayed in in San Fran charged for a local call.
“A nice boutique hotel, but a little bit worn.”
It is a nice good hotel in a nice neighborhood. However, it is a tiny bit worn and has a little bit of peeling pain in the shower. That's all. Good for the price and very clean. The service was wonderful and very nice.
“Getting Tired”
The rooms and especially the bathrooms need to be modernized. With a little upgrading this could be a great boutique hotel.
“Favorite Secret Spot in SF”
The Laurel Inn is a special hidden secret in San Francisco. The location is central to walking to all the best spots in the city. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It is definitely a welcome change from the more popular lodging locations.
“Overpriced”
The hotel was clean but the bed was extremely lumpy. No air circulation other than opening the window. Extremely overpriced for the experience. The breakfast was passable. Only nice thing was the coffee available at all hours. Staying downtown is much preferable
“Needed a hotel close to Mount Zion Hospital”
Walking distance to Mount Zion Hospital. I did my bowel prep at the hotel then had colonoscopy the next day. Being able to walk to the morning appointment and have someone pick me up afterward close by was so nice. Since you cannot drive for 24 hours after your procedure it was the perfect location. The staff at the hotel were very helpfull. Great place to stay.
“In need of air conditioning”
While this hotel had several pluses--lovely continental breakfast, nice staff, reasonable room rate--it was a rather unpleasant stay as the weather in SF hit 80 degrees and the rooms were not air conditioned. We were on the top (3rd) floor facing west so our rooms heated to an intolerable temperature by afternoon. An afternoon rest became an afternoon cold shower. We were determined to have a good time, it is San Francisco after all, so just went with the flow. However, the hotel needs to put in air and do a bit of repair on the bathrooms which were cheaply "modernized."
“Helpful friendly serivce”
They provide a more than continental breakfast in the lobby. The staff is more than roady to help with directions, maps, and will print your boarding pass for you.
