The staff is phenomenally helpful! Particularly Daniel, who drove me and my car to the near-by public parking lot and then walked back to the hotel with me. He also good-naturedly helped my friend find her I-phone which she lost. Mark, the manager, was also most helpful with his assiatance and good nature. I would return to the hotel because of the staff. AND the great location.

Location vs. noise

Posted 20-Mar-2015
Pros: Convenient parking, rennovated rooms, location, super helpful staff, free Pete's coffee in the lobby.
Cons: MAJOR bummer was that the louvered windows didn't filter or keep ANY of the city noise out at night. NO SLEEP due to street/city/construction/ noise.
Location: Great location - good eats and plenty to do and see right outside the door and within feet or a ride.
Location is great for day tripping, and close to everything downtown Union Square etc. Reason why we booked was location and the affordable (relatively speaking for SF) vallet parking which was a major PLUS. Walk or catch trolly's, or public transportation within steps. Rooms were freshly rennovated which was great, pretty, clean and comfortable, but ours didn't have all the lights installed ("yet") that were supposed to. So the only light in the room was overhead on the fan. We had to get out of bed to turn off/on the light and not much for ambiance. Would have been nice to have the light near the bed for reading and on/off convenience from bed. Even if you don't think you need a concierge service, stop by and introduce yourself. No matter why you are there, he's a GREAT resoruce for information and shortcuts on how to get around, the best steak dinners for less, and where to grab some local's favorites.

Comfortable and Centrally Located

The King George is clean, centrally located and slightly fading. The room was small but well laid out and clean. In all, excellent value.

Super cute Union Square hotel with character

Posted 10-Mar-2015
Pros: Charming, good location, comfortable bed, nicely appointed, good rate.
Cons: Experience was great but cheaper parking options would be good.
Location: Close to Union Square, shopping, restaurants, cable cars/transit (easy to get to the Ferry Building/Fisherman's Wharf). Very central to all areas.
King George Hotel was very cute and centrally located (two blocks from Union Square, close to restaurants, shopping, and all forms of transit - including the Hyde st cable car). The hotel was built in 1914 and is supremely charming, although rooms are small, they have been recently renovated–they are stylish and comfortable (especially the bed!). In particular noticed their precise and ingenious use of every last inch of the limited inches in the endearingly small washroom. Staff were friendly and accommodating and valet parking isn't much more than the public parking offered nearby - granted we only stayed one night. For a longer stay you may want to investigate alternative parking options. Was also happy with the overall cost - considering a motel in some of the surrounding cities–Petaluma, Novato, San Rafael–was close to the same price, what we paid to stay in a boutique hotel, in central SF felt like a total steal. Just know - the rooms are small (fairly common in SF), great for a couple passing through, but if you're planning to stay a while, or have kids, something to be aware of, the cheap rate doesn't get you much space.

Hotel was being remodeled and everything was clean

Posted 05-Mar-2015
Pros: Liked that it was near transportation and was pretty easy 2 find.
Cons: Bar was only open for few hours, had 2 go somewhere else in middle of day if you wanted a drink.
Hotel was near Union Square, could walk to Chinatown, easy to get to cable cars, street cars, buses. But was difficult to figure out the bus routes. There were beggars on most corners, but not directly in front of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again. Lot of noise at night, but The Hilton is across the street and they heard the same noises we did. Bring a pair of ear plugs or go around the corner to Walgreens and buy some. Slept very well. Hotel should train staff to open beer or wine since that is all they serve, so you could have a drink during the middle of the day if you wanted

Great location, good for a short stay.

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Pros: Location.
Cons: Cleanliness. There was someone's hair in the bathtub and toilet.
Location: Close to everything.
Stayed just for one night- it was OK. Staff is very friendly, but hotel does not have much amenities. Room was very small but newly remodeled and had everything what's needed in it. Bed was comfortable.
