Great location, good for a short stay.

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Pros: Location.
Cons: Cleanliness. There was someone's hair in the bathtub and toilet.
Location: Close to everything.
Stayed just for one night- it was OK. Staff is very friendly, but hotel does not have much amenities. Room was very small but newly remodeled and had everything what's needed in it. Bed was comfortable.

Great Hotel, Not so great city

Posted 27-Feb-2015
The hotel was nice and clean. The room was small but comfortable enough for a short stay. The staff are very friendly and polite. The city it self is full of homeless people and sketchy. Definitely did not feel safe walking around at night.

Weekend in San Fran

Posted 24-Feb-2015
Pros: The location was great, a lot of nice affordable and delicious restaurants surrounds the hotel.
Cons: Maybe they could include a complimentary continental breakfast if not a café downstairs.
Location: Cable car is just 2 blocks away as well as the BARTS and MUNI stations. You don't need a rental car here.
This was hotel was very comfortable and located at a great spot just 2 blocks from Union Square. The price was great and the amenities were adequate. The people at the desk were especially helpful. We arrived early in San Francisco, about 6am. Check in is usually at 3pm, but the ladies at the front desk on Feb 15 am were so kind to find a room to check us in right away so we wouldn't have to wait 8 hours for a room after a 10 hour flight. The colors were nice, the beds were soft and the bathrooms were clean. It's just a stone throw's away to the Powell Cable Car Turn about. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting San Francisco for a weekend.

Great location, small but clean and comfy room.

The hotel has been recently renovated and they did a great job. Our room was small but clean and had everything we needed; the staff was friendly and responsive to requests for extra blankets and towels. Right near the Powell St. station which is a hub...highly recommended!

Great, affordable hotel

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Loved the hotel! Very affordable, nice staff, clean and renovated rooms!! The only (tiny) complaint was that there was no air conditioning and the room was WARM! San Francisco was experiencing warm weather and we had to keep our windows open in our 9th floor room.

Valentines Getaway

Posted 16-Feb-2015
Pros: Location and staff accommodated us.
Cons: Every room should be renovated because some rooms have a 1979 feel to them.
Location: Lots of restaurants to choose from.
Had to change my room 3x (The first one had 2 small beds, 2nd one felt like it was 1979) but finally got the room advertised on the website on the 3rd time. Rooms are very small there, kind of felt like a dorm. Still the perfect getaway for a one night Valentines stay. No complaints.

Small but clean

Posted 12-Feb-2015
Pros: Restroom was very clean and staff very friendly, the knowledge of staff for things to do in city was great. Everyone there had a smile a seemed happy.
Location: Plenty to do in Union Square, shopping and great food and you also have plenty of other places to visit like the pier and fishermans wharf.
Rooms at this hotel were small but had everything we needed for our vacation. Ive stayed in more expensive hotels and have yet to find a staff as friendly as King George. I will stay here again on my next vacation to San Francisco

Great hotel, great location

Posted 10-Feb-2015
Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: Clean the carpet in the room.
Location: See review
The room I stayed in was small but nice, clean, and had everything I needed. The carpet was in serious need of a steam clean but that may happen, as they were in the midst of a renovation. The Union Square location is great and close to the cable car to Fisherman's Wharf. Good price for what you get, but not much room for more than the bed in the room. Staff was excellent and very helpful.

Would recommend on price only!

Pros: Close to parking. Close to Union Square. The guy at the bar is awesome!
Cons: A lot.
Location: Near Union Square, ACT, Cable Car
I've stayed here a few times and never really had much to complain about. The last time we were "upgraded" to a renovated room. This time, not so lucky. We asked if we could stay on one of the renovated floors since we have stayed at this hotel numerous times, and the last time was just a month earlier. We were told they were booked - but if we wanted to "upgrade" to a renovated room we could pay $20. So, not actually booked. The only thing they had going for them this stay was the parking garage across the street, and Lori's diner next door. Basically nowhere to put anything in the room, so all my stuff was on the floor, and the baseboards are old, dusty and dingy. Our room was overheated due to the outdated boiler, and we had our window open the entire time but that didn't help much at all. There is ONE very slow elevator. Our room keys had to be re-keyed twice. Took about 5-10 minutes to get hot water. I hope they don't increase the price too much when they are done renovating all the rooms. This has sort of been our "go - to" hotel thanks to the convenient parking and hotel location, but I will probably look elsewhere next time.
