Disappointed this time

Posted 16-Dec-2014
I have stayed at this hotel three times in the past and was very satisfied each time. But this time I stayed in an extremely small room on the fifth floor that was uncomfortably warm, even with the one window open. The bathroom was dinky and the walls throughout needed repair and paint. The staff was lovely, however.

Older hotel near Union Square

Posted 15-Dec-2014
Pros: Location is great.
Older hotel near Union Square. Good location. Being an older hotel the rooms are on the smaller size and the bathrooms even smaller. Still a good place to stay if you want to be near Union Square.

Nice, close to union square..

Posted 15-Dec-2014
Pros: I love vintage, they have updated it beautifully without losing the vintage vibe.
Cons: Parking!
Location: If you want to shop you are close to union square. Nice resteraunts, even a jack in the box. You can take the trolly to the warf.
It has a sweet vintage vibe that I like. A clean hotel close to union square. If your not familiar with the city it can be hard to get to with electronic directions. ( Siri didn't know that we couldn't make the left turns she kept telling us to make) parking was an issue for us, we checked in dropped off our bags and left immediately. There was no need for the valet. By the time we returned all parking was taken. The money saved with the Internet hotel special went towards parking two blocks away. Maybe just the time of year, but when your tired driving in circles looking for parking, then have to walk two blocks in the cold.....

Thin Walls, Loud Neighbors, Hard Beds

Posted 24-Nov-2014

Old can be charming, dirty is just plain gross!

Posted 14-Nov-2014
Pros: Humm? I like the name.
Cons: The housekeeping. I think I would have really liked a clean room.
Location: Just off of, but not on Union Square. A really good location in the shopping heart of San Francisco.
OK, I love vintage and old architecture in buildings. I would rather stay in a grand old hotel with the wonderful detail that is unavailable today. But, if it is going to please me it has to be clean and maintained! The lower grout in the wall tile surrounding the tub was black. The corners of the white tile floor were black. The shower curtain rod had rust on the bottom at each end. There was some peeling paint in the bathroom. The sink faucet never fully shut off. And, no one wants a bedspread with whatever ick may be lurking on it anymore. Has the hotel staff not seen all the news exposes on what remains on a bedspread? Give me a clean duvet, or two sheets wrapping a blanket please!

Union Square Central

Posted 07-Nov-2014
Pros: Location
Stayed 2 nights while on a business trip to San Francisco. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable, although a bit small. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location was excellent, just one block off of Union Square. Very centrally located with most of downtown within easy walking distance.

Great location

Posted 07-Nov-2014
This was our second time at the King George. Overall was very happy, it's in a really convenient area with lots of shopping, restaurants and public transport nearby. Free wifi and in room movie purchase very handy. The room was really clean but really small which didn't bother us too much because we had so many activities planned. The beds were not that great though, very hard pillows and lots of street noise so it's really hard to get to sleep and stay asleep. We would return but perhaps request a different room location because of the street noise.
