I was not too thrilled about the facilitiy. There was no Gym or breafast facilty onsite. The hotel front was undergoing construction which I get but there was water everywhere. It was difficult to hail a cab and a couple of times when we called Uber they would not let them wait for even a little bit.

Very convenient location!

Posted 21-Apr-2015
My friend and I went to San Francisco for a 4-day visit and found this hotel to be very conveniently located near Union Square and other amenities -- near the main cable car stops and the buses. We found the room to be very comfortable and pleasant, no real complaints at all. Friendly staff too. We enjoyed the tea, sherry and water on offer to guests every afternoon although we were not always around to take advantage of it.

The hotel is in need of an upgrade!

Posted 21-Apr-2015
Pros: Great location. Central to all the action of Union Square
Cons: Maintenance of the rooms.
The hotel is centrally located next to Union Square which makes it an ideal location. The check in process was great with the Guest Agent being very courteous and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable but could definitely use an update. The biggest issue we had was with the washroom. We stayed in room 45 and the shower head was so congested with calcium deposits that the water coming out was virtually non existent. When you try to adjust the head, it either came out in a fine mist barely or a straight downpour which was not enough to stand under to get cleaned up. Also, when someone close by turned on their water, the temperature in ours varied greatly. The vanity is this room as well is unusually low as well which made it seem strange. Our friends stayed in another room and did not have any of these experiences so we'll just chalk this one up to poor maintenance of this room.

Rude staff ruined trip

the lazy, rude staff ruined an otherwise enjoyable trip. the doorman John stood and watched as I struggled to get my luggage and couldn't even to open the door.

Cons: Valet parking was busy but understandable given that it is downtown SF.
Location: Practically everything is within a few minutes.
Great location. Everything was well taken care of. Great staff.

Great location

Posted 06-Apr-2015
Great location but for the price not worth it, I didn't feel very welcomed from the staff at the desk during my check in and check out however the worst part was the shower was clogged horrible to be on vacation and have the shower water fill up

Pros: The staff were great and accommodating.
Cons: Update the hotel, add a gym and room service.
I have stayed in several hotels near Union Square over the years. I chose this hotel because the location is convenient and it looked clean. Upon arrival, the condition of the hotel was not what I saw in their pics, it was run down and shabby. It was disappointing to learn 1) there is no gym and 2) no room service. You can order from Morton's next door after 4pm but nothing before. What hotel doesn't have room service, especially in a city like San Francisco?!?

Pros: Cozy and charming feel to the room.
Cons: It would have been great if the hotel room had a refrigerator. Also, the rooms have old doors which you need to pull hard to close which make noise.
Location: Cable Car Stop at the corner, Walgreens three blocks down, DSW at the corner, two coffee shops next door abd Morton's Steak House next door.
This is may second stay at the Kensington and the customer service has greatly improved over the years. I normally stay at the Parc 55 Hotel with it's great location, but by far I prefer the Kensington Park. Wonderful old world charm and the room was wonderful, even though the bathroom was incredibly small (for one person it was perfect). The Kensington Park is steps to the corner of Powell and Post (across the street from Union Square) and a Cable Car stop. Three blocks from the closes Walgreens. My room faced the back of the hotel and it was very quiet.

Great value and location

Pros: location, clean comfy room, David, our concierge was great.
Cons: the morning staff not as professional or helpful, asked the concierge for a breakfast recommendation we felt blown off. The lighting in the bathroom
Location: walked to union square, all restaurants, cable car access, masonic theater for a show, never needed a car. Great fun!
This hotel has an older San Fran feel to it, but has been kept in good condition. We found the afternoon staff to be friendly, knowledgable and helpful, with great recommendations for food and directions. The rooms are small, but adequate, we did not feel crammed in, even with our luggage, and 2 bikes. Parking is not on the hotel property so we had to keep pour bikes with us in the room.
