UGGGGGGGGG. not good.

Posted 22-Jun-2015
Pros: the location was in proximity to my conference at another hotel.
Cons: EVERYTHING.
Location: there are quick serve restaurants nearby.
The room looked like a sanitarium. The room was only 90sqft (if that). The furniture was worn. The continental breakfast consisted of dry cereal, bread, and cut up oranges. (Oh yea, coffee, tea, and jiuce.) My room key deactivated itself EVERY NIGHT. One night, I walked downstairs 4 times to get a new key until they finally sent a maintenance worker. But it still deactivated itself the next 2 nights. I ended up leaving early. It was worth the $200 flight change fee.

Small but Enjoyable

Posted 20-Jun-2015
Our experience was interesting. When we opened the door to our room, it was shockingly small. But as the week went on I started to feel very comfortable there. It was cozy. You really can't beat its location right in the middle of everything Union Square has to offer. Bottom line is that the hotel is cheap and conveniently located, if a little unspectacular

Great location is the best thing about this hotel - right next to union square, all the good restaurants, tons of parking lots, and public transportation is very close too. The hotel is a bit tiny but comfortable, complementary breakfast is a bit disappointing though.

We were in the back and it was the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in! Slept so well.

Hotel in super Lage am Union Square

Posted 16-Jun-2015

Convenient location

Posted 03-Jun-2015
This hotel is good for basic needs but isn't anything fancy. The location is convenient to Union Square, the cable car, BART, etc. Rooms are small and there isn't AC but was fine for what we needed.

Excellent hotel in the centre of San Francisco

Posted 29-May-2015
Pros: Friendly staff, good value for money, clean rooms and bedding in addition to the fantastic location
Cons: The TV control took a bit of working out (I'm getting old) but who goes to San Francisco to watch TV! (I watched CNN when getting up in morning)
Location: Close to excellent bars, restaurants, shops (Macy's and Westfield round the corner), sights (you can walk to Chinatown and Little Italy down Powell St
My first stay in San Francisco (I went to see my lad graduate from USF) and you'll find it hard to beat the Stratford Hotel in terms of value for money and location. Right in the centre of San Francisco it's a short walk to excellent bars, restaurants, shops (Macy's and Westfield are literally around the corner) , sights (you can walk to Chinatown and Little Italy along Powell Street) etc. The staff couldn't be more accommodating and really friendly and were an excellent source of local knowledge. My room was quiet and I got an excellent nights sleep every night ( I stopped there 7 nights). The room, towels and bedding were spotlessly clean. You get a good continental style breakfast each morning and can get a cup of coffee in their second floor restaurant area throughout the day. The hotel is literally 10 minutes walk from the BART rail system that takes you to and from SF airport (less than $10 each way) in about half an hour so no need for expensive taxis. All in all a really good experience in my first stay in San Francisco and I'll not be looking at any alternative venues when I go back next year. Thanks to the staff at the Hotel Stratford and looking forward to next year already.

Very Central

Posted 25-May-2015
Pros: Good rates and central.
Right in the middle of shopping area , we used Uber taxi to get around as very good rates. We took a tram to the wharf and walked along to the Golden gate bridge, we then walked the bridge and back and took an uber back to the hotel. We also hired a mustang (resonable rate for the day) and drove over the bridge , there is a higher point that looks down on San Francisco, beautiful. We also had breakfast in a little town. We loved San Fran.
