Good place to stay right in union square.

Posted 21-Oct-2014
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was small but the beds were comfortable and clean. Continental breakfast was simple but good. Cable car stopped right outside the hotel door and BART was very close. More pubs and restaurants within walking distance than you can visit. Can get a little noisy in the middle of the night outside, but that goes with any downtown area of a larger center. Overall a good place to stay in my opinion.

Nice staff but run down hotel

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Hotel staff amazing & welcoming, however the hotel is run down. Thin walls, really small rooms/bathroom, NO AC (it was so hot even with the window left open for the day). It just needs to be updated.

Great location and reasonable price.

Posted 18-Oct-2014
Pros: The central location close to public transport
Cons: The bathroom hot water was not good and the lights tripped out more than once.
Location: The Cable car goes past directly outside the hotel. Hop on - Hop off Bus service is just around the corner.
A fairly basic hotel in a great location. We had issues with hot water, lights tripping out and the noise but the room was comfortable. That was offset by the great location on Union Square and a fair price. Close to good transport options and the shopping areas. An easy walk to restaurants.

What a pleasant surprise !

First time staying near Union Square. What a location. Everything is close by, shops, Macy, cable car just in front of the hotel, Cheesecakes factory etc. The hotel staff is very friendly & helpful especially Jack and Michael. A big thank you. For sure will go back to Hotel Stratford again.

Good quality at very competitive price

Posted 01-Oct-2014
Cons: The water pressure in the shower was very low but still usable.
Location: You cannot get more central than this. It is in the middle of everything in SF, whether you are there for business (close to Moscone) or pleasure.
This is a favorite hotel given its location, convenience, cleanliness and friendly staff. The rooms are small but that is to be expected in central SF. Everything met my expectations at a reasonable price.

Hotel central to all activities.

Posted 01-Oct-2014
Pros: The central location. Close to the Bart, cable car, street cars and buses. Lots of places to eat close by. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Fix up the lobby it looks grungy. Some way to cool the room down as I would not want to stay there in real hot weather.
Location: Shopping, restaurants, bars, transportation and the SF information centre. Get a city pass.
The Bart takes you from the airport to market and powell, only 2 short blocks to the hotel. Also, the Powell cable car goes right by the hotel and the turn around is within 2 blocks. The hotel needs some updating as the entrance is uninviting. The room met our needs and although it isn't fancy it was functional. There is no air conditioning and our room looked onto a wall and into another room. We had a ceiling fan that worked better with the windows opened. The weather was in the 80's and our room was warm. Glad we did not have a room facing Powell Street as the noise goes on all night long. Staff very good and very friendly. We would stay there again as the price is alright compared to the other hotels.
