“Fantastic neighbourhood location”
We stayed here for the last few days of our tour of California. We loved the traditional motel style and the surrounding area had a real neighbourhood feel to it. The nearest bar 'The City Tavern' had a daily happy hour that seemed to last all evening, and there were some great restaurants nearby too. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and our room, although a little colourful was very clean and the bed very comfortable.
“Would stay again”
Very friendly and comfortable hotel. Staff very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to go back again. Very central to all the places we wanted to go.
“a perfect stay”
My husband and I recently returened from a week in San Fran and found this hotel to be a perfect place to stay. Within walking distance of Fishermans Wharf ( we even walked to Union Square one day) but in a quiet area of town, we felt safe in this hotel and never had any bother with noise. The rooms were perfectly clean, and well sized, while friends of ours complained that their hotel at union square was very small and noisy. The pool, breakfast and free DVD library were a welcome extra and the staff were very happy to help. Lots of places to eat and visit nearby. I can't wait to go back to SF and will definately be returning to this Hotel.
“Excellent hotel.”
Room clean and tidy, easy parking, good breakfasts, staff friendly and competant, good restaurants within easy walking distance. Just a little far from the attractions, but on the bus route. A nice attractive hotel. I'd go again.
“cheap hotel value for money”
pleasant hotel all rooms face court yard no smoking rooms but you can smoke on balcony breakfast ok but you have to collect it from recepsion take back to room or try to get table by pool close to chesnut street where there are numerous resturants and bars shops also transport in to town center, fishermans wharfe, pier 39 and closed to golden gate bridge. staff at hotel helpful and very nice.
“Good value for money and an excellent location”
The hotel is located in a quiet side street in a safe area. There was traffic noise at night from nearby Lombard Street, but as we were located in a corner room with a window facing that direction and we like to sleep with the windows open that may not be a factor in other cases. Friendly staff, basic breakfast but adequate, free on-site parking (unusual in San Francisco). No bathtub, only shower. Excellent transport - see tip below.
“You get what you pay for!”
Overall, our first impression was "oh no this looks nothing like the pics on the internet". The pool is small and it is right next to the road. And as you walk up the dirty steps to your room...we were thinking the worst. BUT, the room was very clean and comfortable, you are in the middle of the city but all the family slept fine. Both parking and breakfast were included in the price which is exceptionally good value. Staff were great and always got more bagels, coffee, juice if they ran out and also check us in for our return flights. The wirless internet was free and fast as well. Overall, really good value for money and fine for families on a budget. Location is great as well, abotu a 20 min walk to Fisherman's Wharf, thru a park and along the sea front. And Union street is a few blocks away with plenty of shops and restaurants. In the end we decided we we would definitely go back.
“functional and cheerful”
We spent 3 nights here in September. The hotel is not luxurious by any means but served our purposes well. Our room was fine though a bit noisy as the window overlooked a car park and a busy road. The overall ambiance of the hotel is bright and cheerful with a nice garden area and pool. Breakfast is included in the room rate but is a "do it yourself" affair with a self service buffet in reception and disposable dishes and cups. On a nice day it was lovely to sit out in the garden but was not so pleasant on a wet day. The hotel is outside the usual tourist area but we liked the neighbourhood and found good places to eat nearby. We also walked in to Fishermans Wharf. Alternatively we had a MUNI pass and used buses. We found staff very helpful with suggestions about where to eat and things to do. We would definitely go back if we ever return to San francisco.
“Functional, no frills hotel”
Parking was excellent and staff friendly. Hotel is a bit shabby but room was clean and functional. Would stay here again if you can get a good deal.
“Not bad at all!”
I liked this hotel although it is far from the main attractions at Union Square. Public transport though is very good but also very slow. It's fine if you have plenty of time to factor in getting around. Would better to stay here if you have a car. The hotel is in a great neighborhood close to plenty of restaurants, bars, banks and cute shops. As a girl traveling alone, I always felt safe and people are very approachable if you need directions. The staff were really helpful though a bit slow if you need something sent to your room (had to call twice for hairdryer). However, for information requests and cabs - they were brilliant. Room was fine, tiny bathroom (good shower) but it had a walk-in closet and really comfy bed. Hotel has only one elevator and its motel-style floors mean you may have to lug your suitcase up/down a few stairs and although it was fairly quiet, the metal walkways mean that you can hear people passing your room. I never had trouble getting to sleep though. Overall, a fine hotel.
