“Great location but ask for a quiet room”
The hotel is great and the front desk personnel is very helpful though parking $45 a night after tax. Nearby there are garages where you can park for $32. The hotel is in a great condition, no hotel smell, lobby is nice, and the restaurants of Fisherman Wharf are right around the corner. The neighborhood is great - pleasant for a walk even late at night. The hotel is in the noisy neighborhood, so I asked for a quiet room. I got one on the second floor facing a wall of some other building (no view but no noise). However, I got the room with the connecting door and the guests next door partied late into the night. I called the front desk to ask for another room, they were not able to change the room but offered to send security to the room next door to break up a party.
Area recommendations
Fisherman Wharf - great food. Also get a bus tour around the city if the weather is great and you have seniors or kids with you. The best Italian food in 10-min walk away on Columbus street. Concierge has a free map with public transportation if you do not like to look for parking at each attraction. Golden Gate park is great but getting a taxi to get out of there is almost impossible - so go by car or plan for a trolley or bus ride.
