Good but noisy

Posted 28-May-2015
Pros: location
Cons: cooling systems noise
Location: the union square, streetcar riding to the wharf, China town, etc.
Outside the window, grusome backs of the building, incessant grumbling noise of the big engine, thundering, threatening earthquake, actually the bed trembled, however so slightly. The location was superb, the Union Sq. and the streetcar named desire terminal nearabout. Two rooms made one was my first experience.. The room was not square.

Awful

Posted 25-May-2015
Pros: Decent location
Cons: Bathroom, towels, bed, sheets, blanket, carpet, paint, elevators, etc. Seriously, gut this place and start over because right now it's awful.
Location: It's a half block from Union Square, which is SF's epicenter for high-end shopping, but nobody staying at the Handlery is shopping there.
The room didn't feel clean and every aspect of it was threadbare and worn out. The bed was uncomfortable. The two pillows were both flat and the linens and blanket felt scratchy and cheap. The bathroom was very dated and dim. The shower was cramped, even for someone of average height. Half of the outlets in the room didn't work. My mini-fridge was warmer than my room and smelled like mildew. The A/C for the room was set at 70 and never got close to that but because it had to run the entire night, I got lulled to sleep by the low din of the huge recovery fan right over the foot of the bed. I had to figure out my room's quirky electrical to get the TV to work, which, by the way, is also on the smaller side. Once it worked, the cable signal was spotty. Everything from the carpet in the room to the paint in the halls to the feel of the lobby was drab, dreary and disappointing. The staff was trying but it didn't seem like they wanted to be there either. Three days prior I stayed at another 3-Star hotel on the other side of Union Square and the difference was night and day. I have also stayed at a 3-Star closer to the Tenderloin that was far and away better despite the neighborhood. The fact that the Handlery is passed off as a 3-Star hotel is a crock, and I believe that every positive review this hotel received is bogus. If it's $50 more a night to stay somewhere else, pay it. If it's $80 more a night, pay it. Seriously, this place is that bad. You've been warned.

Too expensive for the quality

The hotel was fine. Nothing bad, nothing good. It had a fridge, but no microwave. Outdated bathroom. You needed to reserve the sauna but concierge wasn't around to allow you to reserve it. But it was clean and the pool was neat. Valet not the friendliest.

サンフランシスコ初心者向け

Posted 12-May-2015
Pros: 場所とスタッフさんの温かさ
Cons: チェックイン時に聞いた部屋の場所の説明が間違っていてうろうろしてしまったので、ちゃんと教えてほしかった。バスタブ付きかどうか予約前に分かるようにしてほしい。
Location:

Overpriced sham shack

Posted 11-May-2015
We booked this hotel as a king bed package mystery deal via Expedia, as we could not decide where to stay in San Fransisco. When we got there we were told that a king bed upgrade was an extra $20 per night; we declined to add to the already overpriced hotel. The room we were given was about 2 times the size of an Alcatraz cell we visited. The bathroom barely had enough room to dry yourself outside of the shower. The bath plug did not close properly and let water out continuously, the sink overflow also leaked water onto the floor. The bathroom door did not shut properly nor did it lock, the paint was also chipped off and looked like they recycled it from a demolition sale. The room smelt like cat pee. The fridge made the milk we bought curdle in 2 days as it did not cool properly. Overall the hotel is in need of a major upgrade, we paid more to stay here than in a junior suite at the Belagio in Vegas. The only good point were the housekeeping staff who did a great job. I would defiantly not stay here again nor book a 'mystery deal' via Expedia!
