“Better than expected”

When I booked this hotel, I saw a lot of negative comments, but we were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and comfortable. NO bed bugs, as reported!

“Private”

Motel was clean, and exactly what you would expect. We were not disturbed even though we played loud music, so major points for that! The AC worked very well.

“Pleasenly Surprised!”

I was surprised at how nice the room turned out to be, seeing as how it used to be a Super 8. Everything was perfect, and their "Sale of Room Amenities" sign was quite humorous. It was very inexpensive (only because we used expedia). The only bad thing about the room was the bed! It sounded ancient, and was pretty uncomfortable, however I did not wake up aching at all, so I guess that's better then I can say for my own bed! Next time we go to San Diego we will definitely stay here!

“Dirty - bad location”

The walls were dirty. There was what looked like blood on the wall beside the bed. The coffee pot was missing the carafe. There is a carwash next store that makes a lot of noise during the day. The pool area was hard to walk around as the cement is chipped in places.

Area recommendations
I would recommend staying within San Diego. This was not close to any of the attractions we had gone to see.

“Very Hard Beds and Paper Thin Pillows”

The hotel and pool were very clean and the rooms are really sound proof. The neighborhood is a little rough but that may be from the car wash/liquor store that is right out in front. Even though the rooms was very clean the main downside were the beds. They were very, very hard and the pillows were almost flat as paper. I guess I expected a little bit more from a Howard Johnson Hotel.

Area recommendations
I would recommend staying in Santee instead. Pay a little more but much better neighborhood and beds.
Dining
We visited the Barona Casino and the food was marvelous. Prices were very reasonably and portions were great.

“Well worth the money”

I have stayed in much more expensive hotels that were less well maintained and less clean than this one was. The staff was friendly, the maid service was good, and we had everything we needed. I would definately go back.

Area recommendations
Our motel was right off one of the major roads in the city, so we had access to grocery stores, drug store and resturants and fast food. Very convienent.

“Needs more cleaning”

The overall comfort of the room was good, but the sink and tub were dirty. Small breakfast was nice. You may not get to park near your room if you arrive at night. They have a parking area around the dimly lit sides of the building which to us did not appear safe.

Area recommendations
Stay near I-8 but closer to san diego ...this hotel was a bit far for our tastes (El Cajon). I'd pay another $20 and find a closer place.

“No Complaints”

I have no complaints about this hotel, except, they needed a lite sign for the road, it was difficult to see off the street at first, had to make 2 u-turns....People were nice, the room was nice, it's not a large hotel so it seemed more private and the room was pretty large and very clean... I had 3 kids and my husband and it did not feel packed or claustrophobic. The continental break feast was nothing more than the usual coffee, juices, sweet rolls and cereal....can't complain for the price of the room. I am defiantly looking this hotel up again when I come down.
