“Noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in.”
This fine old gem was invaded by thousands of families with demon children running all over the hotel until the wee hours of the morning when their parents were kicked out of the bar. Everything else was good.
“Unique luxury experience at the Del”
My wife and i travel pretty extensively and found this historic hotel to be amazing. The location is fantastic and frankly you can spend the entire weekend on the island eating at the restaurants, shopping, coffees, and long beach walks. The spa was fantastic and ranks as one of our fave spa's we have visited. The couples package is the choice to get. Walking around the property and realizing it has been there since 1888 makes this hotel experience incredibly unique.
“Plan to make it an annual Fall break away from the rain.”
Excellent service. Friendly/helpful staff.
“California Gem”
Great staff, Great room, great views, Clean beach, Family friendly
“A great place”
Took my family to the Dell for a week in August. It was a wonderful stay with only two setbacks that almost marred the experience. First, we arrived a little early and the room was not ready. We were forced to wait all the way till 4:00 pm to get into the room. When we did get to our room, we received an automatic upgrade, so small harm, no foul. BTW, that is really the key to a great stay at the Dell. Spring for a room with an ocean veiw. Second the waitresses at the pool were completely unattentive, basically ignoring you unless you had a flag up at your chair. I spent 30 minutes waiting at a table and NONE of them ever approached me to ask if I needed anything. That was the last time I went to the pool. Lucky that there is a beach with an inviting staff that goes above and beyond the call. The beach bar served up bloody mary's that were best in class. And the rest of the staff at the hotel and facilities were just great. Everyone friendly and extremely helpful. Overall, a great experience. Just stay away from the pool staff.
“love the Coronado”
our honeymoon was amazing. The Coronado is gorgeous. I hope I get to go back again.
“Can't wait to go back”
This is a place I gladly recomend to anybody: location wise, service wise, it's worth the money
“The Hotel Shined Brightly on It's "Darkest" Day”
Stayed in Ocean Towers, on 4th floor w/ partial ocean view. Balcony view looked down the beach - very pleasant. Arrival at 4:15 PM was really something. They checked us in literally in the dark, using light sticks, and they issued us more Light Sticks for us to carry in the halls and use in our room. Organized chaos might best describe the process since all computers were Down - Ahhh - the computer age! The power had just gone out over the entire San Diego area and parts of Arizona and Mexico - and the hotel stayed dark until about 3 AM next morning. ALL restaurants in San Diego were closed, but the hotel announced they would feed us on the main lawn at 7 PM for free. They had to set up the tables and start preparing and serving food for over 1000 people all within 3 hours of the power outage. They had backup generators to protect their food storage and some lighting. That makes them superstars in my book! The Valet was excellent. The poor Bellman had to lug our stuff quite a long way to our bldg. and then up 4 flights of stairs in the dark. He looked Beat, but didn't complain. The room was clean and comfortable and staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast there but not dinner: the B&S snackbar was best deal considering, price, convenience, and view. Hotel is within 2 miles of all shops, many within walking distance, including Von's food market, and it's only a few more miles by car to SD Gaslamp Qtr. Parking & Bike Rental were huge ripoff though.
“great location, beautiful hotel, a bit overpriced”
this is a beautiful hotel in a great location in Coronado island. it is considered an historical hotel, the earliest buildings were built in 1888. It has great facilities (pools, spa, gym, sundeck, restaurants, wine bar, parking lots) and the rooms are very nice. However, I would call it a bit overpriced: let's say one pays also for the "fame and history" behind it. Overall, we did have a great time, though. The staff is great and everyone is very accommodating, which is a great plus when you have 2 kids!
“Grand Dame, the luxury is in the details”
The grounds are beautiful. The rooms in the original hotel are small with hall noise, yet the hotel is grande with attention to detail. A journey into a bygone age with modern conveniences. Food & drink expensive, paying for location and one's choice if it is worth it. We will return
