“Third time around”

We enjoy this hotel primarily because it is right on the beach. Literally. It's the only one in Del Mar. Also, it is right next door to two superb reastaurants, both of which offer excellent food coupled with a beautiful vista of sunset over the ocean. If you're looking for fancy, this hotel is not for you. If you're looking for quiet, this hotel is not for you. (The Coastal Train comes through close by in the middle of the night, blasting its horn.) But if you're looking for beachfront, with clean rooms, and friendly service, this is for you.

“Perfect Weekend”

The location was perfect, and location is probably the best selling point for this hotel-the beach is the back yard. In addition, however, the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating, the room was clean and functional, and the bbq area was a fun bonus. We would and probably will return.

“A location to die for!”

Our stay a gift from my husband for my 70th birthday. What a wonderful surprise. Arrived and offered a free upgrade with a partial view of the ocean. Very nice room obviously recently updated. The hotel location is wonderful right on the beach steps from the ocean. They have a lovely glassed in patio at the west end where we enjoyed coffee in the morning. In the afternoon enjoyed the sunset with a glass of Proseco. There is also a similar but larger patio running along the north side of the hotel to the beach where families were BBQing and enjoying the evening. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. We are definitely returning soon.

“More of a Motel”

Liked being right on beach,enjoyed not having a lobby to walk though, nice places to eat with in walking,noise from parking lot and railroad nearby were not that bad,as most of my time was spent on beach walks not in room. All employees here were great.

“Bargin on the beach - Del Mar”

We had a nice time, my wife had stayed there years ago and its still the same. One of the few motels actually on the beach.

“So Great!!! Hate to let the secret out- this place is a real find”

So the coaster goes by and makes a little noise. Who cares! The beach is so beautiful. The restaurants are a 2 minute walk and the sunset rivals Hawaii. I wanted to go back on my days off this week. Hike around Torrey Pines. Poseidon Restaurant had a great staff. Jakes didn't. Love the Hotel

“inexpensive and classic”

Even tho I will tell you that the best thing about this motel is that the "Posidon" and "Jakes" restaurants are next door, there is absolutely nothing that I can negatively report about the motel or my stay. I expected a motel on the water, and that is exactly what I got.

“unbeatable location; right on the beach!!”

This is an older structure and is really built solidly. Even though filled to capacity several days of our stay, it was quiet at night. Has broad porches all the way around. Is located right on the beach--walk up a scenic hill to town to shop, eat, etc. Less than 10 minute walk. Lots of families staying there. Very pleasant. Not fancy, no cable TV. Shower, no bath. Had coffee maker and refrig. in room. Refrig. worked very well. Nice and clean and the workers very friendly.

“Would go back again.”

Room very clean and comfortable. Has a small refrigerator. Motel is within walking distance of many boutique shops and restaurants. The only downside is the Del Mar train station is near so you hear the train whistles but I don't remember hearing them after midnight. The location is ideal, Torrey Pines State Reserve is very close -- so is the golf course.
