Our family of 4 spent four very nice nights at the Holiday Inn San Clemente. We were upgraded to an ocean view at check-in and were pleased with the size and cleanliness of the room. The bed linens were better than expected, especially after staying 2 nights at a similar class hotel in Fullerton prior to this stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, we took advantage of the free beach chair rentals, which was a nice touch. We really only had 2 very minor issues: the herd of buffalo that was in the room above us that apparently never slept, and the AC unit kept stopping and starting even though the fan was set to low. Otherwise, the little noise was manageable and did not detract from an otherwise enjoyable stay. The beach was quite a long walk from the hotel, but there were many restaurants within walking distance including a Starbucks one block away. There were always snacks in the lobby and the cleaning staff did a good job as well. If you don't mind a 30-40 minute drive to Disneyland, this is a great option for a Disney trip, as well as being close enough to San Diego for a day trip. All in all, we had a great stay and we will certainly be back.
This hotel was comfortable and clean, with the small exception of a food stain on our couch which was rectified immediately. We are allergic to perfumes and didn't smell anything when we walked into the room. That was great. The perfumes from the free toiletries has gotten into the towels slightly so if you are extremely allergic beware. The pool is a little small but the hot tub is big. Great staff, great suite rooms with an extra sink by the microwave/refrigerator area made our one week stay much easier. So did the free full breakfasts. You can make your own waffles--great for the kids. Anyway, we had a great stay.
I arrived too early for a baby shower nearby and was very pleased that the hotel allowed me to check in at noon. The room was clean, had comfortable beds, and had pleasing colors. Altho it faces the 5 freeway (its between the hotel and the ocean) the room was quiet unless you went on the balcony or had the sliding door open. Nice sunset view.
