“Fantastic!”
A real gem. Right next to an entrance to the river walk, but not in the crowded noisy section. Staff were very helpful, we arrived from the airport with no luggage and they were on top of helping us get settled with what we had. Only had a take out dessert in the dining room but it was provided on a fantastic room service tray not in some styrofoam box. The lounge in the cellar was interesting lit only by candles at night. Great mojito. Classic black and white silent films playing on the outdoor wall off the patio. Our room was small but had everything we needed. Fantastic four poster bed with beautiful linen, flat screen tv, a closet would have been nice (but hooks were provided). No tub, shower only but who has time for a tub when there is so much to see in this beautiful city! So many cool characteristics. If you are looking for a cookie cutter Holiday Inn this is not the place for you. If you prefer something unique and think outside the box this one is for you.
“Fabulous! Felt like we were in Cuba years ago.”
Fabulous experience! Club Havana Bar was amazing - all red candles and a few light fixtures. Very intimate and cool. Went to dinner at Ocho. Food was fabulous and the view was equally amazing. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Just one note - no closets in our room. No problem for us because we were only there for one night and could hang stuff. The best staff! We will be back!!!
“I would stay there again”
Nice classic hotel. The bathroom door wouldn't shut and the pillows were a little thin but still overall a nice place to stay. The staff is very pleasant with a pleasing attitude. Better than the stuffy "holier than thou" attitude you get from sister hotel, St Cecilia in Austin.
“Great staff and character of hotel”
We stayed in a Queen Suite #27 and enjoyed our stay. The staff were extremely helpful in many ways. The atmosphere was wonderful, made you feel like you were in Cuba. The hotel was located on the river walk but not right by all the nightlife, so it was quite quiet in the evenings. The food was good and fairly reasonable in prices. Would recommend this hotel! Loved our stay there.
“Quaint and hip but not funky”
This is a lovely, smaller, boutique type hotel that has been somewhat restored to what was probably its original splendor. It has a kind of a hip, cool feel to it now (for instance, a cool, small bar in the basement that is lit solely by red candles.) The room was small, but comfortable and the entire place was extremely quiet. Only one downside: no closet, so you have to put your suitcase on the floor. Other than that, very nice. The restaurant downstairs is excellent (some of the best food we had in San Antonio.) Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Its not right on top of the Riverwalk, but a short walk to it. Fair price. Would stay again.
“Great, but overpriced”
This hotel was absolutely beautiful! I loved the timelessness of it. Be warned though, it is VERY influenced by the hispanic culture. My husband & I stayed on a sat. night & felt a little out of place when we went down to Ocho. 'Specially considering we speak no spanish!! The "souvenirs" & the items they place in your room for purchase are way overpriced. You'd be better off driving to the gas station. They're selling cans of sodas for $2!!!! Ocho, the lounge, was amazing. It has a great atmosphere & the food is delicious. A little pricey, but that's expected along the riverwalk..(the mojitos are amazing!) The staff was very nice & helpful. I don't recommend staying here if you want to explore the shops & restaurants of the riverwalk. If you want a nice quiet vacation this is definitely the place to go! I believe we walked 1 1/2 mile/s to get to the very beginning of the exciting part of the riverwalk. Oh, they also have some amazingly huge towels!!! In the future we would go back if they would lower their prices, not of the rooms...but of everything they sell. I just feel ripped off looking at those dang cards that list the prices!! It's ridiculous!!!!!
“Peace and Serenity”
I loved this place. It is quite far from the center of San Antonio's Riverwalk scene, but I enjoyed the long walk along the canal to get there. The views from the room and neighborhood are not glamorous (a parking garage and communications tower -- ) but the atmosphere of the hotel itself made me feel like I was Hemmingway. It's graceful, comfortable, elegant and funky all at once. The restaurant food was superb. Where else would room service bring you broiled grapefruit, tortillas and honey? I felt like the Hotel Havana fits with San Antonio: no plush carpets. Instead its patina and peacefulness make it a throwback to another time. Highly recommended!
“Love, Love, Love the Hotel Havana”
This hotel has fantastic customer service, and it's right on the River Walk. It's a little bit of a walk (about 10 minutes) from the crowded (and sometimes noisy) central River Walk area, but that's why we chose it. We would definitely stay there again!
“Angelina from Melbourne, Australia”
This is a lovely boutique hotel with a lot of character. The architecture, wood finishes, shuttered windows and patio porches were great to see and enjoy. It is a young and energetic hotel, and the people who work there were an absolutely pleasure to deal with too. The food in the little restaurant was great and so was the in-room dining - simple and elegant. No coffee facilities in the room, which is my only gripe. I recommend this to anyone who wants to try something different.
