I had read good reviews about this hitel if you are flying in or out of SJO. We were greated by friendly staff and taken to our room. We told them we had to catch the 4:00 am shuttle to the airport. The desk clerk said that he would see if they would be able to have some food out for us in the morning before the actual breakfast is served. Sure enough, we came down and there were different breads, ham and cheese laid out as well as juice and coffee. we had toast and jam with coffee and juice. It was all we needed to start our travel day. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean. What more could you ask for?
Stayed here two nights on either end of our trip in Costa Rica. Very nice grounds, excellent staff, good breakfast, huge room. No complaints. Breakfast once was buffet (juice, fruits, eggs, gallo pinto, toast) and the other time was a choice of plated breakfast (traditional, omelet, huevos rancheros and one more I dont' remember). The buffet was better to me, but either way the breakfast was a nice inclusion with great coffee and a fabulous terrace setting. If back near the airport with a car I would 100% choose the El Rodeo.
I stayed here for two nights to attend a web conference in between traveling around Costa Rica. The staff were very friendly, the location was close to the airport, the shuttle service was prompt, the breakfast was fantastic, and the wifi worked great! Couldn't have been happier!

This hotel would actually be a three star by Canadian standards, as the room was quite tiny but the bathroom was very nice (size of half the room) and the room was clean. We had to leave to the airport very early (at 4) and the staff prepared us sandwiches and fruit to take with us as well as a shuttle that was on time to drive us there. The first room we were given was right beside the sitting area with a party of 10 teenagers. It honestly sounded like they were in our room. I was very happy the front desk had no problem switching us to another room so that we could have a restful sleep.
Nice hotel near the airport with a great gym, good food and a nice pool. Unfortunately their service leaves much to be desired.n we called to request laundry service at 3pm for our dress clothes to get pressed and were told the laundry folks had left for the day already. No offer to get it done for us. It has been a long time since I got told "no" as a customer in a nice hotel like this one. Very disappointing.
Pedro and Anita were very accommodating during our (3 family member) 5 night stay at Hotel Puerta del Sol.
Shopping (for groceries and otherwise) at the Cariari Mall nearby was available. The hotel is near the airport and the room was very clean and comfortable. The A/C worked perfectly although was not really necessary at this time of year in the Costa-Rican Central Valley. The amply sized room had a wide variety of cable channels a ceiling fan as well. The Hard Rock Cafe was nearby too!
Hotel Puerta del Sol is priced in a manner that is proper, unlike some of the hotels in the San Jose vicinity. I recommend the hotel wholeheartedly. Pura Vida!
"10 day stay a Double Tree by Hilton Cariari -San J"
The hotel was. excellent and the room service especially the house keeping was fantastic. The staf was very helpful and courteous. The hotel lay out was extremely hand and easy to get around. their was one thing tht I noticed due to being gym rt there was not enough attachments for the Cable machine there were on 2 -hand straps and a bar the you conned to both sides of the cable machine.. The pool and hot tub were closed at 9 and would have been nice to stay open till 11pm..
