“Very impressed”

Excellent modern hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast which we had included in our room rate. Very good specials for dinner at 9.5 Euro for a main course. Tram stop to the Mirabell gardens just outside hotel. Highly recommended.

Area recommendations
Centre of Salzburg is quite compact and wonderful to walk about in. A day to Hellbrun Palace is well worth the effort.

“Perfect!”

Excellent service! We were not happy with our first room as it was near the lift and we could hear the mechanism whining constantly - so avoid room 438! Anyway we asked to be moved and this was done without any quibble and we found ourselves in a much nicer room. My wife is gluten intolerant and this was well understood by the restaurant staff who did everything they could to provide her with food which was suitable. The cost of dinner in the restaurant was very reasonable - there is a fixed price menu which was cheaper than most other places we saw. The food was excellent! Overall a very classy establishment with slick professional service. We would not hesitate to book there again or recommend it to anyone.

Area recommendations
The city is amazing and it's hard to single out any area in particular because it's all so beautiful. We particularly enjoyed an evening concert in the drawing room of the old fortress about 100 metres above the city with spectacular views and a wonderful ambience. Not cheap but it was worth every cent! It won't cost you anything to climb up Kapuzinerburg hill from where there are spectacular views over all parts of the city and a nice old building at the top where you can refresh yourself. It's not a difficult walk.
Getting around
Use public transport - it's cheap, easy to use and very convenient. Only 2.10 Euros from the airport to anywhere in the city by bus and there are a massive range of buses that will take you virtually anywhere. That said, we hired a car which was very reasonable - through Europcar. As a previous customer we were upgraded from a Polo to a 'top of the range' Mercedes - very swish and surprisingly economical!
Events and shows
There are many options to suit all pockets if you want to enjoy a Mozart concert - a must in this city! Do not buy the first tickets you see advertised on arrival but walk around the old town and it won't be long before you find many places e.g. churches, public buildings as well as concert halls, big and small where a Mozart concert is being held. You can choose based on her much you want to pay, anything from 10 to 50 Euros!
Other
If you are feeling thirsty/hungry best to avoid the touristy areas around Getreidestrasse in the old town and cross the river into Linzerstrasse where you will find that your Euro will go so much further. Austria is quite expensive although most things are about the same as in the UK, some are even cheaper e.g fuel about 10% cheaper than in the UK!

“Not impressed”

Hotel under refurbishment. Receptionist - cold and disinterested. Bathroom not clean. Dangerous, rusty springsof broken tissue box left on show below sink. Toilet not cleaned. Mildew around bath. Leaking shower. Drilling all day. This room should NOT have been released to guests of a 4 star hotel.

“Very impressive localisatıon in Salzburg”

Hotel is quıet well, nice working personals, but there were some problems. First of all breakfast was expensive and not reasonable, not included in hotel prices.

Area recommendations
Untersberg hill was fantastic. Because it is one of the Alpin hills. Very nice view and walking tour at the top. Königsee is also seeable places near Salzburg.

“Great service and excellent value for money!”

After travelling for more than 4 weeks, it was a pleasure to receive a warm greeting and given excellent service. Our large room for our 3 night stay was very good value for money. The staff were very good and we are pleased to give them an excellent rating!!

Area recommendations
There are several very good restaurants close by and we can recommend the Italian restaurant about a 4-5 minute walk around the block. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute to either the river or the train station. A taxi ride to the railwat station is less then 10 euro.

“Salzburg hotel”

Rooms were spacious, had tea/coffee, mini-bar, usual bits and pieces. May be a little tired? Beds starting to wear out and general decor and fittings showing faint signs of age and deterioration but nothing that would adversley affect your stay. Staff very helpful - left bags in store after check-out while we toured Salzburg, they provided info re buses and routes. Public transport good in Salzburg - needs to be! traffic otherwise a pain. Good rate from Expedia compared to rack rate in an expensive city. Would stay here again.

Getting around
There are several cheap options for getting around on the buses, which run frequently and have good bus-stop information, especially in the city centre. There are day-tickets, 24-hour tickets as well as single journeys at standard rates. Parking and traffic are otherwise poor or expensive.

“Easy 1 day Stopover”

About 15 mins walk from the station, and easy to find. We arrived well before our check in time, but leaving our baggage was no problem - locked in a room with receipt given - free of charge. The old town is about 20 mins walk. If your'e not a walker, the No 2 trolley-bus stops almost outside. It goes to the station and even the airport (very cheap)!

Area recommendations
The old town is a must. Lot's aof very old buildings, nice restaurants (though staying the new side of the river will probably save you money). Lots of museums and the fort / castle on top of the hill. Good for a day visit
