“Did the job”

This hotel is around a 10 minute walk from the main train station, and 10 minutes to the old town, this location suited us, so we were quite happy with it. The room and bathroom were pretty basic but were clean and ok for a few nights stay. There was quite a bit of traffic noise at night (though I now always travel with earplugs anyway). Overall a decent option for the price.

Area recommendations

This area suited us as we were able to walk to the hotel from the train station and also walk easily into the old town. However I do not think I would stay in this area if I was a single female travelling alone.

Getting around

Salzburg is so small it is easy to walk around the town. We also got a 24hr Salzburg card which gave us (among other things) free public transport out to sights and attractions out of the city centre.

Must see

We found the Salzburg card to be pretty good value, so would recommend checking that out to see if it suits you. Sound of Music tour was great to see the beatiful countryside.

Dining

We did not have a guide book for Salzburg and as a result our dining experiences were a bit hit and miss.

“salzburg 11”

good location,service. My only complaint is that the wifi didn't work from my room. Apparently, the signal is not strong enough to reach the upper floors sometimes

“OK....but not what I'd call a 4* hotel. But I'd recommend it as 3*.”

This hotel is clean enough and the staff are pleasant and helpful - but I'm afraid I can't see on what grounds it has been awarded 4* status. The design was ugly (and the picture in my room, while supposed to be artistic, bordered on the comically obscene, though I'm sure this was accidental). Towels, toiletries, bedding and room facilities were basic (no safe in the room, for example, though there was one at reception) and the free wifi was so slow it couldn't really be used for things like Youtube and internet radio. The luggage room wasn't locked or easily supervised from reception. The breakfast was tasty, though short on fresh fruit, etc....but the coffee was very good indeed.

Area recommendations

Salzburg is one of Europe's most beautiful towns, but I would recommend staying as near to the Old Town as possible.

“a very good hotel”

The location is very good. Around 10-15 minutes walking to the old center city or Railway station. Also convenient to take bus which take less time. The room is comfortable and clean. Service is also nice. Will stay here next time.

“Close Location to the train station”

I was really happy with the location of the hotel. While it was not in the "prettier" area of town, it was close to the train station and it was an easy walk to most locations. I hope to go to Salzburg again and will probably select this hotel again.

Area recommendations

Any area is fine because everything is within walking distance.

Must see

A must see is the Sound of Music tour. I went with Panorama, but there are others. You do not need to be a SOM fan to go. I barely remembered the movie. It takes you through the Lake District to some amazing sights!

“Great hotel”

The hotel was wonderful, clean and well maintained. It wasn't as close to the old town as I would have liked, but easily walkable. We only stayed one night, and I thought the breakfast was included (which normally the only way I book with expedia) and did not feel that the continental breakfast was work 8 to 9 euros per person. We could have easily gone to a closeby deli.
