“Basic, but modern and clean”

This hotel is in walking distance of good restaurants, bars, shops and historic center of Salzburg. The building is old and looks a little bit tired from the outside. However, there was parking available for our rental car, and the interior was recently remodeled and extremely clean and contemporary. The front desk staff was extremely professional and helpful.

“The Hoff”

We stayed at the Hofwirt Hotel for four nights in July 2008. The hotel is situated in the "new town" area easily within a ten minute walk from the centre of Saltzburg. All rooms are clean with modern decor and furniture. Bedrooms are of good size and include televisions with sattelite. The bathroom was equipped with a particularly powerful shower. Only down side of rooms is that they do not have air conditioning and during our stay it was particularly hot which required the windows to be left open at night. Unfortunately it was noisy during the night. The breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of buffet type foods. The hotel has a 'happy hour' between 1800 - 2000, with drinks at half price which is very reasonable in comparison to other bars nearby. There is also free internet access in the bar area. The hotel is located centrally with good access to all the sites and is easily reached on foot from the train station (20 min walk). Overall I would reccommend this hotel.

“Neat and convenient”

Hotel Hofwirt is within very easy walking distance of the old town but the area is home to a number of good restaurants and cafes slightly removed from the main tourist hotspots. Rooms are neat and clean and receptionists extremely helpful and friendly - they are a really good source of places to eat and visit.

This hotel is rather funky. Location is outstanding being right on the edge of old town. No trouble parking car although th car park s tight. Lady on desk very pleasant. Brekkie was nice. Would have been happy to spend another night. Some previous reviewers complained about noise but I didn't find that a problem.

“Spotless”

The room was simple but spotless and exactly what you would want from a hotel in this price region - and on reflection I would have been happy to pay more to stay there. The beds were comfy and the sheets changed everyday, the room, with straight corners and wooden floors throughout, were possibly the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Two thumbs up!

“Clean Standard European Room with Excellent Breakfast and Free Parking”

The room was a standard european room (2 twin beds that can be pushed together). It was very clean. The TV was small but there are many better things to be doing on in Salzburg. The included breakfast was excellent. Parking was free though hard to maneuver in. The hotel is within walking distance to everything in downtown Salzburg.

“Salzburg”

Staff at front desk were extremely welcoming and efficiently processed us so that we could access our room quickly. The room was very well designed with modern decor and fittings. Pleasing to have no smoking on the premises. Breakfast choice was extensive with decor once again modern and clean. Friendly staff catered for our individual requirements. The only inconvenience was that our room on the second floor could not connect to wifi so we had to go to the foyer in order to use the Internet. Check out was efficient and professionally handled.

“Good hotel in ideal location”

Hotel Hofwirt was easy to find from the motorway, but parking was tricky as hotel car park was small and full. Luckily it was a Sunday and could park outside till Monday morning. The short walk to the centre is pretty and full of shops and cafes. Polite staff and clean room, but a bit noisy with the window open in the hot weather.

“Sparse, but friendly and handy.”

The room goes in for minimalist decor and fittings - there is no real feeling of homeliness about the rooms. But they were clean and well serviced. The staff were helpful when we made enquiries about where to eat and about how to get skiing for a day. The hotel is about 5 minutes from teh river, and within 2 or 3 minutes of several nice restaurants and safes.

“Good basic hotel”

The hotel is clean, in a central location and efficiently run. The rooms do vary in size, ours was adequate, however our companions had a small room. Room amenities are basic, but for a couple of days more than adequate. Breakfast is simple, with choice of cold meats, cereals, juice etc.. The only slight criticism if any is the over zealous cleaning team who hammer on your door at 8.30am and knock once and then enter. The addition of some "Do Not Disturb" signs would solve this problem. Otherwise I would more than happily recommend this.
