“Needs to work on matress”
We were overall happy with hotel. Location was great. Buffet was fabulous. But the mattresses were limp - the twin beds pushed together for my husband and me had matresses that differed in depth by two inches and had little support. Pillows were really skimpy too, and I generally like a skimpy pillow. Had to use two just to keep your head elevated 2 inches.
“Such a nice place and couldn't be in a better location. Would stay here again if in Salzburg”
Iris on the front desk was so friendly and accommodating and spoke perfect english. The other fellows were also very nice. This place is a half block off the main pedestrian street but is very quiet. We booked a king room to ensure we had lots of room and we were not disappointed. The breakfast was great and had everything you could want (eggs, bacon, yoghurt, juice, croissants, breads, jams, cereal selections, and others), was a lovely large room with very friendly staff. We were there for 4 days and found all the places to see very walkable. A very nice compact little city with lots of little things going on which can be experienced simply by walking around. Don't forget to see some of the city area accross the bridge on your way to the Mozart-Wohnhaus and Mirabell Gardens. Just walking around investigating and finding places was a pleasure including along the river bank. Some good places we ate or snacked at were: Konditorie Furst for coffe & pastry (also home of first Mozart Ball), Stern Biergarten, Cafe Getreidegasse, Nordsee which had surprisingly good seafood for a type of self-serve place. The hotel restaurant itself was also quite good. We really liked the beers in Austria which says a lot when my wife also enjoyed them.
“Fantastic experience”
Great location in the heart of Salzburg's old town district. Lots of cafe's and restaurants within walking distance. There's great shopping both name brand and souvenir. It's just a short taxi ride to Salzburg's main train station. The room was smaller in size but the furnishings were nice and it was clean. The front desk and breakfast staff were extremely helpful in all matters.
“I just recommended Hotel Elefant to my best friend”
Hotel Elefant is an excellent place to stay in Salzburg. From the location, to the room comforts, the service, etc., you can't beat it. Iris, at the front desk could not have been more helpful. It is an excellent value. If I have the opportunity to visit Salzburg again, I know where I'll be staying.
“not for the disabled”
picked hotel because it is in the old city....but its difficult to get to and the car has to be parked a long way from the hotel
“salzburg gem”
My wife and 12 year old daughter stayed in this hotel for a three day visit to Salzburg. Excellent location in the Old Town. Easy walking access to the Salz River, University Platz, Dom, and Fortress. Well maintained. Great front desk. Excellent hot breakfast. Would stay in hotel on our next trip.
“Excellent location”
Really enjoyed our stay, the Hotel is in an excellent position, central to all the attractions. Even with the central location the Hotel was very quiet. The staff were all very helpful and added to our overall enjoyment. Would recommend the Hotel Elefant for a city break.
“Characterful hotel in good location”
A hotel with lots of character and an interesting history. Close to loads of interesting sites and the service generally good, helpful and friendly too - especially the woman at morning check-out and the waiter at breakfast.
“Excellant location, very friendly checkin staff”
The whole trip to Salzburg was booked on Expedia, it was very easy to do and website easy to use. The hotel was clean and cosy, it did not have a bar, but you could order in the resturant and it was brought to the lounge area. The hotel was very centrally located with all local attractions within easy walking distance. The hotel checkin staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, they were very polite and spoke excellant English.
“A Hidden Gem”
The Hotel Elefant is a wonderful little boutique hotel right in the center of the old town in Salzburg. You can walk to everything. The staff was very helpful and accommodating and provided good advice for local restaurants and things to see and do. Don't forget to ask them about how it came to be call Hotel Elefant because it's a great story. Highly recommend it.
