“Nice quiet corner”
Convenient for the Station, 2 good sized rooms, good breakfast. Would have no hesitation staying there again even though not in central Salzburg, which was 20 mins walk.
“Warm welcoming hotel.”
We had a delightful room in the annexe. It was well furnished and decorated with excellent double glazing.Breakfast was a real feast with lots of choice. The staff were all friendly welcoming and helpful. The hotel was conveniently near the train station and bus terminus about 15 minutes walk from the older more elegant parts of Salzburg.
“Second stay--just as good as the first”
Very friendly welcome.Lovely room. Great breakfast and great service. We'll be staying again, and particularly as it's so close to the station, and a very pleasant 15 min walk into the centre.
“" We'll be back"”
Stayed at the hotel 4 times now, and will have absolutely no hesitation booking again in the future. Why go anywhere else!
“Definetely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting salzburg”
went on our honeymoon - Excellent location just 100 mtrs walking distance from main station . Well connected by bus and tram to all parts of salzburg . Excellent hotel and room ,excellent toilets with big tubs and hot water , friendly staff and great buffet . great tea and coffee making facilities in room , definetely would love to go and stay there again . and would recommend this hotel to all visiting salzburg - at the price offered this was a steal . truly a 4star hotel . No problems encountered at all .
“OK but not four star standard.”
The hotel is situated in the 'new' part of Salzburg close to the railway and bus station. We stayed in the annexe which is across the road from the main hotel. The annexe rooms are on the first floor of the building with private flats on other floors. The road outside was noisy and there was also occasional noise from the occupants of the flat above the room. The room was OK and was well cleaned every day.The breakfast buffet was good but not 4 star standard. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was adequate parking outside the hotel. The Altstadt was a ten minute bus ride away.It was however cheaper than most four star hotels in Salzburg and in general reasonable value.
“Good value for money”
Good hotel, really friendly staff and a couple mins walk from the main bus and train station. However, it was a good 15mins walk into the main tourist area (not situated in a good part of the city), but as the city is small, it's easy to get around so not so much an issue. The hotel was very clean and comfortable but was on a noisy road. We were supposed to get the sound of music themed room - i didn't see much of a theme other than the carpet having music notes on it. If i was to return to salzburg, i'd probably prefer a hotel in a better area - we got a great deal on the hotel so cannot complain.
“Christmas break in Salzburg”
The hotel was in an ideal location for us, close to the station and a short walk to the old town. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food in the hotel restaurant was good and not too expensive. We loved our trip to Salzburg and will definitely return!
“Average - maybe a one off?”
Read most of the other reviews that raved about the breakfasts and the rooms etc. True to form, the guest book in the hotel also confirm that some people have a great stay at Der Salzburger Hof. Nothing wrong per se with the place but then again nothing great - staff are friendly though. Stayed in the Mozart Suite - which instead of a double bed had 2 single beds pushed together...bad start. Breakfasts were very average unless you like cold hams and cheese to complement cereals and toast. Scrambled eggs the only hot food. But the worst thing? Our bathroom had no hot water! Lukewarm at best. Oh and its not THAT close to town! Good 15 to 20min walk at least to the main part.
“Good... but with reservations”
The hotel itself is very nice. Staff are helpful, the room was super and very clean and the breakfast was great. Location is the main problem, though obviously the hotel can't be blamed for that. It was an easy walk to the main part of down but the area seemed quite rough and there were numerous erotika shops and massage parlours around the corner. Neither myself nor my 70 year old mother enjoyed walking past these, especially at night (clocks had just changed so it got dark very early). I'm not prudish but I feel other travellers should be warned...
