“Ideal location, close to main staion and old town”

I was most satisfied with the quality of food, politeness of the staff and friendly atmosphere of the Hotel.

“Great hotel”

Hotel was in a great location 10mins walk into the old town through the lovely Mirabell gardens. Free secure car parking which is great. Most of the staff were good one girl on was unhelpful but rest were fine. Rooms good size clean and comfortable - free wireless internet as well.

I have been to this hotel a number of times for a number of reasons, 1) it's walkable from the train station, 2) it's on the bus route to and from the airport 3) it's a 5 minute walk to the New Town and a 10 minute walk to the Old Town. Mirabell Gardens and all the coach tour bus stops are 2 minutes walk. Finally they do an excellent breakfast!

“Good Value For Money”

Very nice hotel with friendly English speaking staff. Bar and restaurant facilities very good and both were patronised by the local peoples - always a good sign I think. Centrally located with the old town just a few minutes walk away. Would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a value-for-money stay.

“Excellent value hotel”

We have recently returned from a short break to Salzburg staying at the Best Western Stieglbrau hotel. It was in a convenient location from the airport. Just get on bus no 2 from the stop directly outside airport and get off at the Mirabelplatz stop. It is then just a short walk back on the other side of the road to the hotel. Reception staff very helpful and all speak excellent english as do all the staff in the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable and compatible with its 3 star rating. Nothing fancy but we weren't in it much. It has an excellent restaurant; the food is delicious. Breakfast is served every morning in the restaurant and that is excellent too. There are a few restaurants near to the hotel if you don't want to eat in the hotel. It's a short walk, about 10/15 minutes into the centre of the city or you can take the bus. They all seemed to go into the centre but it's hardly worth it. We bought the Salzburg card which includes all transport and admission to most of the museums of which there are many. Very pretty city, lots to see and do but I would say that if you're looking for a place with a bit of excitement then Salzburg is probably not the place for you. At the time we went we found it hard to find any bars/restaurants open for a drink in the evening in the centre of the town. Got the impression that the time to go is when there is a festival, of which there are many going on. Would probably not go back to Salzburg again.

“Nice place to return to after a busy day”

I stayed at this hotel for a long weekend in Salzburg and it served well for my needs: en suite room, tv (although mostly in German)and good (complimentary) breakfast with range of breads to choose from and fresh fruit salad! The single rooms were on the small side but they served their purpose. This hotel is also located close to train station and so there is the possibility of getting a room that faces the station (and you will hear them, but it was not a problem for me). Free wireless internet was also welcome for the evenings when I was at the hotel. Being a solo traveller I filled the day with visiting places and spent the evening at the hotel so I would say it was great to be able to return somewhere comfortable with basic luxuries.

“No problems”

Great location. About a 10 min walk to the old city (the hotel is on the new city side), but it's such a small and flat city, it was no problem at all. Catch the Number 2 bus from the airport and get off at the Main Station (announced in English). It's then only a 5 min walk from there to the hotel. The number 2 bus back actually picks you up from outside the hotel. We ate in the restaurant for dinner because we couldn't be bothered to walk out into the cold, and it was great! Really inexpensive and very authentic.

“Would go back again”

Well located for public transport although this is not highlighted in the advert. If travelling to or from the airport by bus there is a bus stop much closer than the main railway station. Hotel breakfast was very good with a wide choice. Room was clean and comfortable but housekeeping was quite late in the day. Only critiscism would be that the tea / coffee supplies in the room were not replenished and the cups were not washed / changed. Dissapointed with the performance of the wireless internet (lobby and first floor only and was not working while we were there). Restaurant was reasonable value with a good choice of dishes.

“Very clean and comfortable hotel with excellent restaurant”

Good hotel within easy walking distance of Mirabel Gardens. About 10/15 mins walk to Old Town which was great. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Quite close to the railway and if you are a light sleeper(like my husband) the noise could pose a problem with the windows open at night. No problem for me though! Very comfortable beds. Staff helpful. Good free car park at rear of hotel. Good to have tea and coffee facilities in the room.

The Stieglbraeu was perfect for our needs. Very handy for the train station and the area felt safe, unlike train station areas in many other cities! Only a 5 min walk to the city centre. Hotel was very clean, room and bathroom were large and was good to have tea & coffee in the room to defrost ourselves! Breakfast buffet also excellent.
