“Great Hotel”
Close to Mirabell Gardens, it's a great location and the hotel was very nice.
“Well-kept Hotel”
Hotel kept in great condition and the staff spoke English and were very friendly. There was noise from the busy street, as other comments have stated, but only in the morning. Location just a little too far to walk from the train station with luggage, although it is not too long a walk to get into the main touristy part of Salzburg.
“You kind of get what you pay for”
The hotel is neat and clean. I would give it 3 U.S. stars. Clean, neat and a good location. Staff was OK, but they need to obviously brush up on their "wake up call" skills. I stayed in a single. And you get a single bed and a room so small you have to "step outside to change your mind". I'm guessing the shower was aprx. 3' x 3'. And if you travel in June/July/August keep one very important thing in mind. They don't have air conditioning, and my window went out to a busy street. If the price was lower it would probably be a better deal. At least it had a great location.
“Central Euro Tourist”
Austrotel was easy to locate from the train stn, was clean and situated in Mirabellplatz and close to the main attractions with in walking distance. Also, if you plan on doing the hop on hop off tours, it starts a half a block away. My only point of concern was that this hotel is a 4 * but the rooms and lobby were kind of old but clean. Great service at the front. There is free coffee and water in the lobby seating area.
“Great location!”
Initially, I chose this hotel because of its proximity to the train station. However, we ended up driving to Salzburg instead. Parking was nearby at a relatively reasonable daily rate. Still, the hotel was conveniently located near all the attractions Salzburg has to offer. The room was spacious by European standards. Our only complaint about the room is that ours was located on the top (5th) floor and had only a very small window. With no AC, I could imagine that these rooms get very warm and stuffy in late summer, as it was starting to get that way in early June.
“"If you want a central location choose this hotel"”
Myself and five friends stayed at the Austrotel Mirabellplatz. This hotel is just across the road from the bus stop, and the journey from the airport was about 20 minutes. We couldn't believe how centrally located this hotel was. Everything was near, the bus stops, the coach trip kiosk and pick up area. We loved this hotel, our rooms were clean and spacious. There was free tea/coffee/juice in the foyer although sometimes the machine was not working. There is a cafe just on the corner of the hotel, we used to have coffee and a croissant in the mornings, as we did not have breakfast at the hotel. Salzburg is quite an expensive place, but you can find reasonably priced restaurants and shops. We loved the Sound of Music tour, we were all singing on the coach, it was really lovely seeing where the film was made and the hill where Julie Andrews ran and sang (the opening scenes). Some nice excursions also, we went on the salt mine tour, that was fabulous, had a laugh going down the slide. All in all, a wonderful holiday thanks to Expedia, would definitely go again.
“Perfect location, great staff, great free coffee/juice bar”
This was a great hotel in Salzburg. Location was perfect - all the main sights within walking distance. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend to friends.
“Don't Stay on the Noisy Street”
Very nice hotel. Convenient for parking and activities. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Other reviews note this issue and I simply forgot to ask for rooms away from the noisy street. In the summer, it's too hot to close the windows. Frankly, even with the windows closed, the side of the hotel that faces the street is very noisy. Busses late evening and early morning. Plus, this seems to be the street that many late-night partiers pass down, drunk, shouting, etc. We had two rooms and the other was did not face the street and they were fine. Overall, very nice hotel in a great location.
“Great location but noisy”
The hotel was a 15 min. walk from the train station and perfectly located near the main sights without being too far from the train. Do not get a room right off the main street however for there is no AC and the noise from the buses and crosswalk (beeps nonstop) was too much early in the AM. Great to have the free water and coffee in the lobby. Overally a good stay but would not go back unless we were in a room not on the main street.
“No frills. What we expected.”
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was small but did have a partial view of the fortress. We came expecting a place to lay our head and we got a little more than expected. I don't think you can beat this hotel if your looking for a bargain and a clean room. Location was not bad but was slightly inconvenient for the walk to the tourist attractions. However, a near by neighborhood offered lots of shops and restaurants that were not frequented by tourists which we really liked.
