“Amazing Salzburg!”
We loved Salzburg, and this hotel was fine. The location was close to transport, and a reasonable, but comfortable walk to the town centre. We were pleased with the size and style of the hotel. Breakfast was very good, and the rooms were certainly big enough, with lots of storage and good facilities in the room. We were very happy to have stayed in the hotel. It is not a quaint cottage, but somewhere between a small apartment size and the stock standard 'chain' hotels. Service was friendly, and there when we required service.
“Beautiful Salzburg”
Really nice hotel near the train station. Walking distance to Mirabelle Square with gardens and castle, and the old town. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was excellent. As others have commented, the neighborhood was not perfect but seemed safe. We would stay at this hotelagain and recommend it to others looking for an affordable, nice place to stay.
“OK for the price”
1. In Europe, when near the train station, you're also near the prostitutes, betting parlors, winos -- but it is still surprisingly safe. 2. The area is a bit grungy. 3. Fairly good walk into the old town. In cooler weather its not an issue. 4. Excellent breakfast. 5. Helpful staff 6. Annex rooms were large and comfortable, and furnished to a high standard.
“Excellent choice”
Excellent spacious room quiet location excellent breakfast - only problem was not enough parking onsite - but was able to park overnight 100m away for 4 Euro
“Good Value”
This hotel is about two blocks from the train station, so it is very convinient. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Old Town, however, the buses stop in front of the hotel too. It is an older hotel. The receptionists which we had were fluent in speaking English, and very nice. They also arranged our Sound of Music Tour. The hotel also has a building across the street which is why the word Annex is part of it's name. The Annex is the newer part. It is actually an apartment complex, the hotel owns the first two floors. From the lobby, to the little elevator to ride up to the hallway, it looks a little strange! However, once we opened the door and saw our room it was fine. Large room, comfy bed, one room with tub and sink, another room with the toilet. There was a little refrig which was stocked with items you could buy. This hotel is fine for one or two nights. There is a sports bar on the ground floor, and we were not above that section, we faced the housing complex in the back, so it was very quiet.
“Very nice hotel would highly recommend.”
Hotel was a short walk from the train station. The room was very large by European standards with a sitting area and a full tub and shower. Room was very clean and the restaurant for the included breakfast was very good.
“Decent Place, nice staff, Annex built over a Sports Bar”
Everything was relatively new, clean, and as advertised. Staff was helpful in booking tours, etc. Breakfast was adequate and we ate there each morning. On Friday night, there was thumping music and noisy drunk people in the alley outside until well into the morning hrs. I think, though can't be certain, that the noise was due to a sports bar on the bottom floor of the annex building. If you're noise-sensitive, ask for a floor higher than 2, or book the main Hotel. Would stay there again with this caveat.
“surprisingly nice”
The hotel was nice I checked in at 9pm on 20/6/2010 for one night then extended it for another night. the lady at the check in desk was wearing traditional dress and was very polite. she showed us to our room which was in another building accross the street. I was surprised how big the room and bathroom were. everything looked brand new, unlike the halway of the building which was completely out of the frame. I got great value for money. oh, the breakfast was average good.
“3rd trip to wonderful Salzburg”
We booked a triple room in Annex Der Salzburger Hof - which we knew was over the road, when we arrived however, we were booked into the main hotel building - which wasn't a problem - just seemed strange! Hotel staff were friendly, a guy we presumed was the owner was lovely & made a fuss of our 2 daughter. Breakfast was great - good choice & pleasant staff & available 6,30-10. We ate in hotel restaurant one evening - nice food, reasonably priced too - menu is "3 Tastes" & offers Austrian, Indian & Italian dishes. Room was a good size for 3 beds with separate wardrobe area, bathroom was good size (shower a bit dodgy). Mini Bar fridge was poor, didn't cool at all. TV offered a free constant loop of Sound of Music 24/7! I think air conditioning was a payable extra, we had a tall fan, which wasn't much use (hot mid June) the hotel is on a busy road so having the windows open meant it was very noisy. The Annex is a first floor above a row of shops opposite - we were glad we weren't on that side as it looked like the large betting shop under the annex was above was open late. Excellent location for the train station / bus station. Piece of cake to get to/from airport to bus station then just a 2 min walk to the hotel. Salzburg is amazing - this was our 3rd trip - this side of town isn't as far away from the old town as we'd thought on past trips - and staying 'this side' certainly helped with our finances this trip. We'd give hotel 8/10 just marked down lack of aircon / noisy road.
“Hotel für den anspruchslosen Gast, der nur eine Übernachtung will.”
Nähe zur Altstadt ist nicht gegeben. Frühstück eher Durchschnitt. Sehr freunndliches Personal.
